30 Honorary Consuls, one network across America!

We welcomed Denmark’s 30 Honorary Consuls to the Embassy for two days of meetings, workshops & strategy.

We shared perspectives on consular affairs, Denmark–U.S. relations, defense & security, and economic diplomacy.

Together, we explored how local connections can create new opportunities for Danish–American cooperation, and how Honorary Consuls can help tell the story of Denmark’s impact in communities across the U.S.

The two days were about sharing experiences, developing concrete ideas & strengthening the network for the years ahead.

And there was time to come together over dinner at the Ambassador’s Residence, where we were joined by HRH Prince Joachim, HRH Princess Marie and Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

NEWS FROM SEATTLE: Denmark and Washington State partner to advance industrial symbiosis and maritime cooperation

This week, Governor Bob Ferguson and Deputy Chief of Mission Karen Eva Abrahamsen signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Denmark and Washington State, committing to strengthen collaboration and advance innovation within:

👉 Circular Manufacturing and Industrial Symbiosis
👉 Water Efficiency and Reuse
👉 Maritime Decarbonization
👉 Commercialization of Sustainable Fuels
👉 Port Development
👉 Industrial Decarbonization

These priorities are closely connected. Sustainable fuels depend on feedstock, energy, water and transport. Ports bring manufacturers, fuel producers and maritime users together around shared infrastructure. By identifying these connections early, we can strengthen individual projects and the industrial ecosystems around them.

With Denmark's decades of experience within industrial symbiosis and Washington State's strong tradition of collaboration across industries, this agreement marks the start of turning shared ambition into concrete projects: more competitive industries, more resilient infrastructures and stronger connections between Denmark and Washington State's economies.

The work starts now! 🇩🇰🤝🇺🇸

From the Embassy to the Factory Floor: Denmark’s FM Lars Løkke Rasmussen Visits the U.S. 🇩🇰🇺🇸

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen stopped by Washington, DC, this week covering a lot of ground in the Danish-American relations in just 24 hours:

⚓ Washington, D.C.
At the Danish Embassy, FM Lars Løkke Rasmussen signed a new framework for stronger maritime cooperation between Denmark and the US. It supports the U.S. ambition to rebuild its maritime industrial base and brings Danish and U.S. institutions and companies together on skills, technology, industrial capacity and maritime resilience.

💡 Virginia
The FM met local representatives challenging the rapid expansion of data centers, to understand their concerns and discuss how Danish solutions in energy efficiency, cooling and infrastructure can support the continued growth of U.S. digital capacity.

🏭 West Virginia
The FM visited Danish ROCKWOOL North America factory in Ranson, supporting around 150 local jobs. Since 2016, Rockwool has invested approx. $800 million in the U.S. and employs around 700 people nationwide. A great example of how Danish companies contribute to American production, jobs and local growth.

🤝 Honorary Consuls
The visit concluded with a dinner with Denmark’s Honorary Consuls from across the U.S., attended by HRH Prince Joachim and HRH Princess Marie. A chance to recognize the people who help Denmark build relationships far beyond Washington.

Today, Denmark and the U.S. are strengthening their maritime partnership 🇩🇰🇺🇸

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and U.S. Under Secretary of State Jacob Helberg U.S. Department of State signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a framework for closer cooperation between two strong maritime nations.

The new framework brings our countries together across three areas:

📚 Education & training: drawing on Danish expertise to strengthen the skills and agility of the U.S. maritime workforce.

🧩 Equipment, technology & services: supporting the expansion and modernization of U.S. shipbuilding, repair and retrofit capacity, including through potential local partnerships and joint ventures.

🌐 Defense industrial and dual-use cooperation: strengthening cooperation on maritime capabilities, technologies and solutions with both defense and civilian applications.

The aim is not only to strengthen maritime capabilities, but to create skilled jobs, more resilient supply chains and stronger economic ties between Denmark & the U.S.
For Denmark, this is also an opportunity to connect Danish maritime expertise and companies with the American effort to rebuild maritime capacity.

For the U.S., it means working with an allied maritime nation with deep commercial, technological & industrial expertise.

The opportunity now is to turn that shared ambition into practical cooperation between our companies, workers, institutions and maritime communities 🇩🇰🇺🇸

Happy 21st Birthday to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Christian of Denmark! 🇩🇰🎉

To mark the occasion, the Danish Royal House has released new official gala portraits of the Crown Prince, who is wearing the Royal Life Guards’ gala uniform for the first time.

The portraits also feature the Grand Commander’s Cross of the Order of Dannebrog, Denmark’s highest rank within the order, awarded to the Crown Prince by His Majesty King Frederik X in connection with his birthday.

Denmark & USA: 225 Years of Diplomatic Ties 🇩🇰🤝🇺🇸

Today, we turn 225.

On October 12, 1801, a young Danish diplomat presented his credentials to U.S. President Thomas Jefferson.

This marked the start of one of the longest unbroken diplomatic relationships in American history.

From that first meeting to today’s transatlantic collaboration in business, science, culture, and technology, this relationship has always run on people.

Are you looking to connect and collaborate across the Atlantic? Transatlantic Stars 2027 is opening applications for European creatives interested in working with artists and creative communities in the U.S. 🇺🇸

Danish artists can apply across three tracks:

🎨 Visual arts
🎬 Film
🎵 Music

The program focuses on collaboration and exchange between European and American creatives, with selected participants taking part in activities in the U.S. in 2027.

🗓️ Applications are open October 12-30, with a maximum of 300 applications accepted per program.
