Tomorrow, schools and offices in the Ritenour School District will be closed in observance of Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience and the contributions of Black Americans.

Before the holiday, we invite you to join us tonight for a special community celebration! The Gateway Festival Orchestra will present Juneteenth: Jubilee and Inheritance from 7-9 p.m. in the Ritenour High School Auditorium. Congratulations to Ritenour High School teacher Denise Schindler!

This week, Denise was honored at the Jostens Renaissance Global Conference in Orlando, Florida, where she received her 2026 Jostens Renaissance Educator of the Year award and commemorative ring.

One of only five educators selected nationwide, Denise was recognized for her outstanding work building a positive school culture, supporting student success and helping every student feel seen, valued and celebrated.

The Ritenour School District is proud to announce its four 2026 Hall of Fame inductees who have made a significant impact in their professions and communities.

The 2026 honorees include:
Denise Harper (Class of 1974): A dedicated educator, coach and mentor, Harper devoted more than 30 years to serving Ritenour students and families.

Marty Little (Class of 2005): An accomplished attorney and civic leader, Little founded a successful law practice and serves as mayor of Overland.

Jacque Mastin (Class of 1983): Known professionally as “Romeo,” Mastin is a nationally recognized radio personality, musician and community advocate whose broadcasting career has spanned more than 25 years in Los Angeles, Calif.

Tim Walters (Class of 1976): A standout athlete, professional soccer player and hall of fame coach, Walters earned multiple all-star honors during his playing career before becoming one of Missouri’s most respected high school soccer coaches and mentors.

The induction ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, in the Ritenour Auditorium.

Last night, we celebrated determination, perseverance and achievement!

Through the Ritenour Adult Education & Literacy program, 21 adults earned their high school equivalency certificate this year. At a graduation ceremony in the Ritenour High School auditorium, graduates were recognized for the hard work and dedication that brought them to this milestone.

More than 100 family members, friends, Ritenour administrators and Board of Education members joined us to cheer graduates across the stage and celebrate their success.

Congratulations to our graduates on this incredible accomplishment. We can't wait to see what comes next!

The Ritenour School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Tamara Taliaferro-Thomas as an interim assistant principal at Ritenour High School (RHS). Her appointment is effective July 1, 2026.

Taliaferro-Thomas has served as an instructional coach at Ritenour High School for the past three years, where she has worked closely with teachers and administrators to strengthen instructional practices, support student achievement and enhance learning opportunities for all students.

Prior to joining the Ritenour School District, Taliaferro-Thomas served in a variety of instructional leadership roles throughout the St. Louis region, including positions as an instructional coach in the Hazelwood School District and St. Louis Public Schools, as well as a center director in the Normandy School District. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to supporting educators, developing effective instructional programs and improving outcomes for students.

Taliaferro-Thomas holds an Education Specialist degree in Leadership and Administration from Lindenwood University, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Harris-Stowe State University.
