On September 2, 2026, the Southington Police Department hosted a Fraud Awareness Seminar, an important component of our ongoing commitment to crime prevention, public education, and community awareness. This program brought residents together to learn practical strategies for identifying scams, protecting personal information, and recognizing the evolving tactics used in financial and digital fraud.

The seminar emphasized the Department’s proactive approach to community safety empowering residents with knowledge, strengthening prevention efforts, and fostering open dialogue between officers and the public. This event was a partnership with a community stakeholder, Advest Investment Group.

Detective William Thomson was recently honored with the Silver Star Award through the Bristol Police Department, recognizing his steadfast commitment to public service and community safety. Detective Thomson’s vigilance and professionalism were evident as he helped identify an individual conducting multiple illegal drug transactions and took part in a high‑risk motor vehicle stop when the driver refused to comply. His dedication, sound judgment, and unwavering service to the Southington community continue to set a strong example for our department.
