The S1 shop is vital to any unit, and ours is no exception. Led by CDT Aquino with help from her assistant, CDT Sunstrom, they ensure full accountability of all Cadets at all times. CDT Aquino is from just down the road in San Antonio, Texas. She has been a Texas Army National Guard Soldier for 5 years and brings that experience with her to be the best S1 we could ask for. She aspires to become an attorney and a JAG Corps officer: a difficult task but we know she's up to the challenge! CDT Sunstrom is from Bethesda, Maryland, and is a certified scuba diver! Both she and CDT Aquino are majoring in criminal justice, and CDT Sunstrom wants to branch Signal Corps after graduation. Bobcats lead the way! Texas State University 5th Brigade Army ROTC

Continuing our focus on the Staff, our S3 shop is constantly working and refining the plans for all of our events. They get little sleep and less recognition so let’s show them our appreciation! The shop is headed by ADO CDT Martinez, who has been in the Army for 8 years as of this week. Hailing from Highland, Indiana, he has a wife and two children. He loves to fish but never seems to have much luck on his line. CDT King is an exemplary cadet and comes to us from Olathe, Kansas. He is also an ADO Cadet having served in EOD. A fun fact about CDT King is that he will never admit it but he respects and loves the S7 OIC who is writing this caption:) Last but certainly not least is our fearless XO, CDT Richards. CDT Richards is another model Cadet who is from Mascoutah, Illinois. He is majoring in Applied Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Business. A fun fact about CDT Richards is that much like Lieutenant Dan from Forrest Gump, he has had a family member serve in every war dating all the way back to the Civil War. Bobcats lead the way! Our Cadets got back to back hands-on experience with land navigation last week. An essential yet daunting task, they took it head on as they do all challenges. They received a refresher course and practical exercise at Thursday's lab on finding points in the woods before putting it to the test on Super Saturday. Thank you for sacrificing your weekend to better yourselves and your fellow Cadets. We especially appreciate the non-contracted students for showing up! Just don’t forget what you learned this weekend as you get to do it all over again in a couple of weeks at FTX where you'll do it at night as well. Bobcats lead the way! The Lift Club

Hooah! Not just an expression used by the Army but also the sound of Cadets putting in work at the gym. With the AFT less than a month away, these Bobcat Cadets are spending their free time after already working out at PT in the morning getting more gains in the gym. We expect great things from them in November and can’t wait to have a record year of 500s on the AFT! Join them after PT on Tuesdays and Thursdays if you want to better yourself as well. No experience necessary. Bobcats lead the way! Texas State University 5th Brigade Army ROTC

It's a little late in the semester but never too late to get to know your leadership! Our Cadet Battalion Commander this semester is Cadet Noe Morales. He's a long way from his hometown of Palmdale, California but is a natural Texan. He's majoring in Applied Arts and Sciences and is a Green to Gold Active Duty Option (ADO) Cadet with 12 years experience as an Infantry Soldier.

Our Cadet Command Sergeant Major this semester is Cadet Justin Kerins. He's also an ADO Cadet, a Californian, hailing from Victorville, and an Applied Arts and Sciences major.

We couldn’t be in better hands this semester as they have already made an impact on the productivity and culture of our Battalion. Bobcats lead the way! Texas State University 5th Brigade Army ROTC

Cadets have been hard at work getting and staying in shape these past few weeks. From campus runs and battalion circuits to platoon competitions and our first ruck march of the year, they have shown dedication and resolve worthy of the finest Army ROTC program in the great state of Texas! Congratulations to 2nd Platoon for winning the platoon competition. It was a close race where every cadet showed grit and heart with the next time only 8 seconds away from the winners. Thank you to all of the non-contracted cadets for waking up early everyday and working to better yourself, your battalion, your Army, and, ultimately, your nation. Bobcats lead the way!
