To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.”
-Winston Churchill

It is time to change our law enforcement policies. The De-Escalation Training Act of 2022 was a good start, but it can be better. In short, Sen. John Cornyn presented the De-Escalation Training Act of 2022 to decrease the necessary use of force with state and local law enforcement. We propose to lobby the grant for more funds. With the extra allocation of funds, we would like to add cultural competency training and change current mandatory documentation for LEOs to include at least one de-escalation tactic used before implementing force.
