4S Ranch Friends of the Library

4S Ranch Friends of the Library The Friends of the 4S Ranch Library is a group of volunteers who believe that a vital and attractive library is essential to our community.

Our intent is to secure materials that are beyond the command of the ordinary library budget. The purpose of the Friends is to focus public attention on library services, facilities and needs. Our goal is to encourage donations, gifts, endowments, and bequests to the library. We do this by participating in community activities and by holding special educational and entertaining programs. You may join the Friends of the 4S Ranch Library by paying an annual tax-deductible membership fee.

Dear Patrons & Friends of the 4S Ranch Library, your input is critical!

The county budget shapes priorities that affect our community. Public input matters — your feedback helps guide decisions for Fiscal Year 2026–27 and beyond.

The budget is understandably tight right now, but it’s important for the County to hear that the 4S Ranch community continues to strongly support — and eagerly await — the expansion of the 4S Ranch Library.
Please take a moment to make your voice heard and help show that this project remains a priority for our community.

Provide input by commenting "I support the 4S Ranch Library expansion" on the budget (link below) or submit comments by sending an email to: [email protected]

Comments must be submitted by June 11 by 5 p.m.

Each year, the Board of Supervisors (Board) sets the County’s budget through the Operational Plan, which runs July 1–June 30. The plan covers two years and is a spending plan for the first year and makes recommendations for the second year. The 2026-28 Recommended

It's National Library Week!

Millions of people visit their libraries every week—and for good reason. During National Library Week, April 19–25, take time to discover what brings you joy at your library. Visit your library and bring friends and family along; encourage a friend to get a library card and discover the opportunities it unlocks; browse the shelves, join a book club, attend a program or storytime, or get started on your next creative project in a makerspace.

National Library Week is filled with opportunities to celebrate our libraries and take action to keep them strong. Join in on one (or all!) of the various commemoration days:

Monday, 4/20: Right to Read Day - we're calling on library lovers and advocates to celebrate wins against censorship efforts and to take action to defend the freedom to read. On Right to Read Day, ALA will release the State of America's Libraries Report, including the list of the Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2025.

Tuesday, 4/21: National Library Workers Day - take time to honor and thank the library workers at your library for all they do to impact your community.

Wednesday, 4/22: National Library Outreach Day - a day to celebrate libraries meeting people where they are. Look for your library out in your community - in the bookmobile, at a local pop-up, at schools or assisted living facilities, or wherever!

Thursday, 4/23: Take Action For Libraries Day - this year, we're asking YOU to show up for our libraries and take action against legislative censorship attempts by contacting Congress.

Stay tuned for posts throughout the week and more ways to get involved, and be sure to visit your library and ilovelibraries.org and celebrate your library.

In celebration of National Library Week, American Library Association President Sam Helmick writes:

"Joy can be a quiet thing.

"Joy is the child who discovers their first favorite book and insists on reading it again right there on the library floor. Joy is the job seeker who finally finds the right words for a résumé. Joy is the new parent who finds community in a storytime circle, or the neighbor who walks through our doors not because they need something specific, but because they need somewhere to belong.

"This National Library Week, we are invited to 'Find Your Joy.' The joy found in libraries isn’t incidental. Library joy is built intentionally, collectively, and often against the odds."
