🐙Students from Summit Virtual Academy dove into an ocean of learning during their visit to SEA LIFE! 🐠🌊

From touching real star fish to learning about the dangers of ocean pollution, students explored what it means to protect our marine life. They even used rubber bands to simulate what it might feel like for sea creatures to become trapped in plastic, helping them better understand the impact pollution can have on ocean animals.

To wrap up their experience, students signed their own Sea Defenders Pledge, committing to doing their part to keep our planet cleaner. 🌎💙

Learning about our world is just the beginning — empowering students to protect it makes all the difference! ♻️

During yesterday’s Board of Education meeting, we proudly recognized two amazing educators! 💙✨

🧡 Rebekah Wright, third-grade teacher at Knollwood Elementary School, was recognized for her commitment to helping students learn, grow, and succeed. Wright’s dedication to students shines through in how she builds relationships, recognizes each child’s unique needs, and helps every student feel supported and included. Parents praise her patience, encouragement, and commitment to helping students grow, overcome challenges, and succeed. Her passion for teaching and making a difference in the lives of her students is truly inspiring!

💙 Alisha Thompson, data manager at North Rowan Elementary School, was named The Forum of Salisbury Classified Staff Member of the Month for RSS for October! Nominated three times in a single month, Thompson is making a meaningful difference for North Rowan families! Parents shared heartfelt appreciation for her kindness, efficiency, and dedication to helping families navigate enrollment and connect with needed resources. Her welcoming spirit and willingness to go above and beyond help families feel supported, valued, and at home in our school community.

🎨 5th graders from Millbridge Elementary School got to explore Salisbury's very own Waterworks Visual Arts Center . After looking through galleries full of paintings, ceramics, sculptures, and fiber arts, students took that inspiration and created their own works of art. 🎨

Opportunities like these spark curiosity, encourage self-expression, and give students the chance to bring their own ideas to life. We love seeing our learners explore new interests and discover what they can create! 🏛️✨🖌️

Saturday was National Make a Difference Day, a reminder that making a positive impact doesn’t have to mean doing something big. 📚 Community School Visit Day brought our school and district leaders together at North Rowan Middle School and North Rowan High School ! 🏫✏️

Many CTE courses offer industry-recognized credentials that help students build their resumes, showcase valuable technical skills, and stand out when applying to college or starting a career.

In 2024-2025, RSS students earned a record 5,823 industry-recognized credentials. Meaning students aren’t just learning about careers; they are building personal knowledge and skills to go beyond their diploma.

It is National School Bus Safety Week! Here are essential safety rules to share with your child, sourced from ncdot.gov. 🚌🚦💙

🚸 Students, when walking to the bus stop, always stay on the sidewalk. If there isn’t one, stay out of the street.
🚸 While at the bus stop, wait quietly in a safe place away from the road and don’t run or play.
🚸 Always cross the street in front of the bus; never go behind it. If you drop something, tell the driver before you try to pick it up.
🚸 Respect the danger zone by staying ten steps away from the bus and where the driver can see you.
