Today we celebrated the official opening of Arizona Autism Family Medicine: A Valle del Sol Clinic co-located with Arizona Autism Charter Schools Central Phoenix Campus.

This ribbon cutting represents much more than the opening of a new clinic. It marks another milestone in a journey that began years ago with one little boy named Sammy.

When Diana Diaz-Harrison's son, Sammy, was diagnosed with autism, she experienced firsthand the challenges so many families face in finding the specialized support their children deserve. That experience inspired her to create Arizona Autism Charter Schools so students on the autism spectrum would have a place to learn, grow, and thrive.

As the school grew, another need became clear: families also deserved healthcare designed with the same understanding, compassion, and expertise. That vision has now become a reality through the incredible partnership between Arizona Autism Charter Schools, Valle del Sol, and the generous support of Mercy Care.

Co-Located with Arizona Autism Charter Schools Central Phoenix Campus, Arizona Autism Family Medicine is more than a clinic. It's a new model of integrated, autism-informed healthcare that will serve our students, families, and the broader community for years to come.

Thank you to our partners at Valle del Sol and Mercy Care for believing in this vision and helping bring it to life.

We were also honored to celebrate this milestone with Arizona State Representative Cesar Aguilar and Phoenix City Councilwoman Laura Pastor. Thank you for joining us and for your continued support of Arizona's autism community.

Today wasn't just about cutting a ribbon. It was about opening new doors for children, adults, and families who deserve healthcare that understands them.

Arizona Autism Charter Schools recently celebrated the grand opening of our new Tucson Upper Campus, a dedicated space where older students can learn, build confidence, prepare for adulthood, and be recognized for their individual strengths.

This campus expands opportunities for transition planning, college preparation, employment, and adult life while giving students a place where they are understood, supported, challenged, and empowered.

Thank you to our families, students, staff, community partners, and local leaders who joined us to celebrate this important milestone.

The doors are officially open, and so are new opportunities for Tucson students and families.

For Daniel, finding the right school meant finding a place where he no longer felt alone.

In a general education setting, he often felt socially isolated and separated from the people who understood him. When he came to AZACS, he found students who shared his interests, valued creativity, and helped school begin to feel like home.

Today, Daniel describes AZACS as a place where he has built meaningful friendships and found a community that supports him for who he is.

Every student deserves to feel like they belong.

AZACS is now enrolling for the 2026–2027 school year. Learn more and explore enrollment options at https://bit.ly/4pfA4Ay.

Meet Casey Green, Campus Director of the new AZACS Mesa Elementary Campus.

Casey has spent her career working with students on the spectrum, and she'll tell you the same thing every time: success looks different for every kid. For one student it might be paying for a meal on their own. For another it's making the bed or setting the table. For another it's college, a job, more independence.

"What's successful and what's supportive to one student might not be supportive to another."

So that's how she teaches. Meeting students where they are, individualizing the classroom, sitting on the floor to play, having real conversations, and setting each one up for whatever they decide to do.

In fall 2026, that support comes to Mesa. We've seen how families thrive at our campuses across Arizona, and we can't wait to be here for the East Valley.
