Longtime members Nina Mullins and Carla Snyder have gone above and beyond in advocating for heat relief and helping our community prepare for extreme weather.

What a way to kick off a campaign! 💛❤️

We’re celebrating the incredible partnership between Valley of the Sun United Way and Arizona State University as ASU launches its United Way campaign - one of our region’s strongest and most impactful partnerships.

At ASU’s leadership breakfast, we heard from our Board Member and Campaign Chair Katie Paquet, our President & CEO Carla Vargas Jasa, our nonprofit partner Gervonni Cares, Inc., and ASU Campaign Co-Chairs Tara Williams, Dean of Barrett, The Honors College; Lisa Young, Chief Operating Officer & Deputy Athletics Officer of Sun Devil Athletics; and Herbie Behm, ASU Swim Coach.

Together, we’re celebrating what happens when a community comes together with purpose: more opportunity, more impact and a stronger Valley. 💛

Through our hubs, we’re helping bring books and literacy resources directly into communities, creating welcoming spaces where children and families can read, learn and grow together.

Today, we’re remembering a true champion of children, learning and possibility: Dolly Parton. 💗📚

While the world knew her for her music, Dolly’s legacy reaches far beyond the stage. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, millions of children have received free, age-appropriate books - helping spark a love of reading and giving young minds the opportunity to dream big.

For more than 15 years, United Way and the Imagination Library have shared a commitment to putting books in the hands of children and building brighter futures through literacy.

At Valley of the Sun United Way, we’re proud to carry that same spirit forward through our commitment to early literacy and our Literacy Hubs.

Dolly reminded us that sometimes, something as simple as a book can plant the seed for a lifelong dream.

Her legacy will live on every time a child opens a book. đź’•đź“–

Our VSUW team recently packed Family Tales & Reading Trails kits, filled with resources designed to help families make reading part of everyday life.

And this is just the beginning. We’ve got some exciting things in store for our Literacy Hubs this year - including the possibility of welcoming something NEW to the Valley! 🥳
