It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Linda Searfoss on May 26, 2026. With her passing, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona has lost a founding leader whose vision, dedication, and passion helped shape the organization into what it is today.
Linda was an incredibly dynamic woman who was named Executive Director of Big Sisters of Arizona in 1972. In 1986, Valley Big Brothers merged with the Big Sisters agency, and Linda was selected to serve as Executive Director of the newly formed Valley Big Brothers Big Sisters, now known as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, where she led until 2003.
Under her 31 years of leadership, the agency grew to become one of the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations in the country. Her unwavering commitment to mentorship and youth advocacy impacted thousands of young people, families, volunteers, staff members, and supporters throughout Central Arizona and beyond.
Linda’s legacy extends far beyond organizational growth. She believed deeply in the power of relationships, the importance of investing in young people, and the ability of one caring adult to change a child’s life forever. Her leadership established a foundation that continues to guide and inspire our mission today.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Linda’s family, friends, former colleagues, and the many individuals whose lives she touched throughout her extraordinary career.
This fall, we will gather as a community to celebrate Linda’s remarkable life and enduring legacy. Additional details regarding a memorial and legacy event will be shared in the coming months.
We honor Linda by continuing the work she cared for so deeply and by carrying forward the mission she helped build for future generations.
