Brewer is rooting for his home team… the Milwaukee Brewers !⚾💙💛

This snapping turtle was rescued by the Milwaukee Humane Society in 2011 and flown to Michigan to live out his life here at HNC. ✈ When he arrived, it was clear that his HNC name just had to be Brewer! 🐢

He was named after the Major League Baseball team from his hometown, the Milwaukee Brewers, who clinched the 2026 National League title and are in the running to become World Series champions! 🏆⚾

Brewer says, “Go Brewers!” 💙💛🐢

Bird City Designation! 🕊️🌿

By demonstrating its commitment to creating healthy bird habitats and advancing local conservation efforts, Meridian Township has officially been designated a Bird City Michigan community, joining 11 other communities across the state recognized for their bird-friendly practices!

Launched by Michigan Audubon in 2025, with founding partner Ford Motor Company, Bird City Michigan is a science-based program that recognizes communities for taking meaningful action to protect birds and their habitats.

Meridian Township earned the designation through its ongoing efforts to preserve natural areas, enhance wildlife habitat, promote environmental stewardship, and engage the community in conservation initiatives.
