Spectrum announced last week the expansion of its fiber broadband network, making Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services now available to more than 1,700 additional homes and businesses in previously unserved or underserved areas of Montcalm County.

The buildout included portions within the townships of Belvidere, Bloomer, Bushnell, Cato, Crystal, Douglass, Evergreen, Ferris, Maple Valley, Montcalm, Pine, Reynolds, Sidney and Winfield.

The Livingston County Consortium on Aging recently presented ten $1,000 grants to ten local non-profits that provide vital programs, services, and equipment for senior citizens in areas like health, housing, engagement and community infrastructure.

The Livingston County Consortium on Aging (LCCOA) provides collaboration, advocacy, and communication between agencies and people concerned with the provision of services to all aging adults.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held last Thursday at Community Action of Allegan County's (CAAC) new early education campus. Organizers said the facility will offer comprehensive family support services for infants, toddlers, and expectant families.

A new partnership is bringing Strong Beginnings, a state-funded pilot program offering free, play-based early education, to three-year-olds in Delta County for the 2026-28 school years.

The Delta Schoolcraft Intermediate School District (DSISD) and Menominee Delta Schoolcraft Community Action Agency (MDSCAA) Early Childhood Program were selected to participate as Michigan expands Strong Beginnings from 19 to 31 intermediate school districts statewide.

We were honored to welcome Paula Kaiser VanDam, Bureau Director with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services; Kris Schoenow, Executive Director of the Bureaus of Community Action and Economic Opportunity (BCAEO); and Lynn Hendges, Director of the MDHHS Housing and Homeless Services Division, to the SMCAA Homeless Shelter.

During their visit, they toured our renovations and learned more about SMCAA’s housing and homeless programs and the services we provide to individuals and families in our community.

We are grateful for their time, partnership, and commitment to strengthening housing and homelessness services across Michigan.

As part of our conference service projects, volunteers decorated around 400 Sack Supper bags for Kids' Food Basket helping bring a little extra color and care to children in our community.
