Meridian Cares Meridian Cares assists Meridian residents experiencing financial crises, such as eviction or having their heat shut off.

All of the funds raised stay in the Meridian Township community, and 100% of every donation assists residents in need. Meridian assists Meridian residents with financial crises, so they don’t face greater catastrophe, such as eviction or having their heat shut off. Most of the households assisted are older adults, individuals with a disability, and/or families with children. For households that ar

en’t able to get assistance from community partners or can’t get as much assistance as they need, the Meridian Cares needs fund is able to help out. All of the funds raised stay in the Meridian Township community, helping the 12.6% that are struggling, and every donation helps.

Three warming centers in Meridian Township will be open to the public from Friday, January 23, through Sunday, January 25. These centers are for daytime use only and will not accommodate overnight stays. Please note that all three centers are pet-free zones, except for service animals.

CADL - Okemos Branch (4321 Okemos Road, Okemos)
-Friday Hours - 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
-Saturday Hours - 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
-Sunday Hours - 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm

CADL - Haslett Branch (1590 Franklin Street, Haslett)
-Friday Hours - 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
-Saturday Hours - 10:00 am to 7:00 pm
-Sunday Hours - 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Meridian Mall (1982 W. Grand River Avenue, Okemos)
-Friday Hours - 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
-Saturday Hours - 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
-Sunday Hours - 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm

CATA - Capital Area Transportation Authority is currently offering free rides to anyone who needs help getting to a shelter or center. Just let your driver know your destination. CATA's Route 1 will also run 24 hours a day until the start of service on Monday, January 26 (CATA's Route 1 bus stops at the Meridian Mall).

If you need a different warming center or more assistance, please call 211 for information on shelters, food, and other emergency help.

Meridian Cares 2025 Recap ⏮️

Through the Holiday Food Assistance Program, Meridian Cares was able to feed:
🔹 344 households representing 586 people for Thanksgiving.
🔹 346 households representing 593 people in December.

🔸 $13,146 was raised for Holiday Food Assistance.

On December 10, Meridian Cares and DPW staff delivered holiday food baskets to 99 homes at Grange Acres, a senior living community in Haslett.

This annual program is part of the Meridian Cares Holiday Food Assistance Program, which helps feed community members in need over the holiday season.

Thank you to our DPW staff for delivering the meals to each home, and thank you to Haslett-Okemos Rotary for donating the food!

Free Thanksgiving meal at Blondie's Barn! 🥧🍂

Blondie's Barn (5640 Marsh Road, Haslett) will host a dine-in only, free Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, November 27, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

No reservations are required. The event will be first-come, first-served, and diners may need to wait outside until seating becomes available.

Items to donate that ease our expenditures:

🔹 All of the food pantries that serve Meridian Township require an appointment, and address verification may be required.

🔹Tiny food pantries do not require an appointment and also serve as drop-off points for those who wish to donate items.
