May on Michigan beef farms means long days and full hearts. From getting crops planted for the next year's feed, to welcoming spring calves, to finally turning cattle out to fresh green pastures it's one of the busiest times of year for cattle farmers.
While every farm looks a little different, Michigan farm families are all working toward the same goal, raising high-quality beef while caring for their animals and land!

May is National Hamburger Month! 🍔🥩 Burgers are a longtime favorite—and with a few simple choices, they can fit well into balanced eating patterns.

Start with lean ground beef (93% lean or leaner when available). Cooking methods like grilling or broiling help excess fat drip away while keeping great flavor. After cooking, you can also lightly blot the burger with a paper towel to remove any remaining surface fat.

Building a balanced burger goes beyond the patty. Try whole grain buns, plenty of vegetable toppings, and colorful side dishes to add fiber and variety to your plate.

Small cooking choices can go a long way—helping you enjoy the flavor of a classic burger while keeping balance in mind all month long. 🍔🌱

Michigan may not be known as a 'beef state' but the economic impact of cattle and calves here totals $750 million and the beef industry ranks 4th among the over 300 commodities produced in the mitten state!
So what does that mean to you? It means that about 33% of the beef you'll find at grocery stores across the state was likely raised right here in Michigan.

It’s Women’s Health Week and National Physical Fitness & Sports Month. For active women, iron is a nutrient worth paying attention to. 💗💪

Women are at higher risk for iron deficiency, and training, endurance exercise, and busy schedules can increase needs even more. Iron supports oxygen transport and energy metabolism—key factors in stamina, performance, and recovery.

Lean beef provides highly absorbable heme iron, along with high-quality protein to support muscle repair. Pair it with vitamin C–rich foods like bell peppers, citrus, or tomatoes to help enhance iron absorption across the meal.

Fuel your workouts. Support your energy. Keep iron in focus. 💗🥩
