Juneteenth is not just a day to remember delayed freedom.

It’s a reminder that Black communities have always had to fight to make freedom real: at the ballot box, in our neighborhoods, in our schools, and at home.

In Florida, that fight continues.

Freedom means families can afford to stay in the communities they built.

Freedom means our children can learn the truth about our history.

Freedom means no one is disappeared into detention camps or separated from the people they love.

Freedom means our votes count, our voices are heard, and our communities have the power to shape what comes next.

This Juneteenth, we honor the Black organizers, elders, families, and freedom fighters who made a way, and we keep building the power to win the Florida we all deserve.

Florida politicians called it “anti-woke.” But LGBTQIA+ Floridians know what these attacks have meant in real life: chilled classrooms, disappearing support systems, barriers to healthcare, and young people being made to feel unsafe for simply existing.

This Pride Month, we remember that Pride was never just a celebration. It started as resistance. And in Florida, it still is.
