There’s nothing quite like a warm cup of coffee, a little fresh air, and a few peaceful moments in the sunshine. Another great Resident Speaker Series in the books at One Lincoln Park! We enjoyed a sit-down conversation with Ken Gerritzen, who spent his career as an over-the-road trucker racking up miles all across the United States. Ken shared stories from his years behind the wheel of an eighteen-wheeler - the places he's seen, the people he's met, and life on the highway. Thanks to Ken for taking us along for the ride, and thanks to everyone who came out to listen!

What a special afternoon at One Lincoln Park!

We wrapped up our Better Than Ever series with a memorable session featuring Jim Dwyer, retired counselor, poet, singer, and a true Dayton original. Jim shared stories from his life, his perspective on growing older, and the importance of humor, music, and continuing to learn throughout life.

Our Assistant Executive Director, Mike Bessler, introduced Jim, sharing their longtime friendship and the lessons Jim has taught him over the years. Prospective residents and members of our Men’s Discussion Group filled the room as Jim captivated everyone for nearly an hour with his stories, and wisdom.

Our Better Than Ever series has been all about connection, staying active, lifelong learning, and embracing each stage of life. We couldn’t think of a better way to close out the series.

Celebrating Our Local First Responders!

We enjoyed welcoming Kettering police officers to One Lincoln Park for a cookout in honor of the first responders who serve our community. It was a wonderful opportunity to share a meal, spend time together, and recognize the important role they play in keeping our community safe.

Continuing Our Osher Lifelong Learning Series!

Our next class with The Osher Lifelong Learning at the University of Dayton is coming up at One Lincoln Park! Join us on Wednesday, November 4, for “Support Starts with Self Care,” presented by Angela Nedeff.

Supporting others begins with taking care of ourselves! This interactive workshop will explore practical, evidence-based strategies for supporting loved ones who face mental health challenges while strengthening our own resilience. Learn ways to foster empathy, build emotional wellness, and create a culture of compassion.

Angela is a registered nurse, national board-certified health and wellness coach, holistic stress management instructor, and certified mental health first aid instructor.

Continuing the UDOLLI Adult Learning Series at OLP!

Our next UDOLLI class at One Lincoln Park is coming up! Join us on Wednesday, October 21 for “Pearl Harbor,” presented by Paul Cooper.

This fascinating session will explore the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor that brought the United States into World War II. The seminar will examine the events and decisions that led to the attack, as well as how the operation was planned and carried out.

Paul Cooper is a retired Air Force pilot with 34 years of military experience and is a past UDOLLI presenter.
