Get ready to cheer on one of our very own! Lifelong Kettering resident and beloved Prass Elementary teacher Julie Maggs is stepping onto the dance floor to compete in the 2026 Dancing with the Kettering Stars, benefiting the incredible Kettering Police Foundation.
Julie’s deep roots in our community run back to her days as a 1986 graduate of Kettering Fairmont High School. After earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and master’s degree in curriculum and development from Wright State University, she brought her talents right back home. Since joining Prass Elementary in 1991, Julie has spent more than three decades shaping young minds and making a lasting difference for generations of Firebirds.
Julie and her husband, Paul – who recently celebrated 31 years of marriage – raised their two sons, Jake and Nick, right here in Kettering! When she isn't teaching, Julie loves weekly family dinners, reading, walking, and bike riding.
And as it turns out, Julie isn't exactly a stranger to the spotlight! Having previously taken and taught dance at Terre’s Dance Workshop, she’s looking forward to dusting off her dancing shoes and showing us her moves.
As a devoted educator, Julie strongly values the vital partnership between Kettering Schools and the Kettering Police Department. She is thrilled to use this opportunity to give back to the our KPD officers and Foundation that does so much to support the youth and families of Kettering!
