Commission Actions – September 8, 2026
New Business
1. Commission approves closing Walker County Courthouse & non-essential county offices on September 11, 2026, due to Foothills Festival road closures.
2. Commission approves Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) Emergency Management Performance Grant FY2026 Cooperative Agreement.
- Reimbursement for county. Did not receive funds in 2025.
3. Commission approves award to Sain & Associates, Inc., the contract for professional engineering services for Walker County’s SS4A planning and demonstration grant and to authorize chairman to review and execute the same.
4. Commission approves $9,500 Davis Tree Service proposal for tree clearing and maintenance at the airport.
- For glide slopes. An engineer’s report includes the area that has been marked for cutting.
- Chairman Miller stated that we cannot get our airport certification until this work is completed.
5. Commission approves fairgrounds right of access agreement with Graham & Associates.
6. Commission approves re-appraisal fund FY2026 budget amendment request.
- For overage on mileage in Revenue Department
7. Commission approves Reebo Reeves Invitational, Inc. application to use old fairgrounds on October 3, 2026 for its memorial scholarship fund annual rodeo.
8. Commission approves resolution entitled “Revocation of General Use Contract and/or Privilege for Automated License Plate Readers,” providing for the timely (30-day) removal of all LPRs from county right-of-ways.
- Specifically, this involves the barring of Flock cameras and the like on county highways and properties.
- Does not affect local municipalities.
9. Commission FY2027 Walker County – Bevill Field Airport funding pre-application.
- Asking for funding for pavement on runway, patchwork of taxiways, painting and grooving.
