The Walker County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Hyeonsoo Ko, age 24, of South Korea, following an investigation involving a child.

Ko, a foreign national from South Korea, has been charged with:

• Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful S*x Act ×3
• Enticing a Child to Enter a Vehicle/Residence ×1
• R**e 2nd Degree ×2
• S*xual Abuse 2nd Degree ×2

Investigators determined that Ko allegedly traveled to Walker County on at least three separate occasions in connection with these offenses.

This case is another reminder of the dangers our children face both online and in person. Predators will travel across state lines — and even across the world — to target children.

We encourage parents to stay involved in their children’s online activity, know who they are communicating with, and report anything suspicious immediately.

Bond has been set at $250,000 cash.

A Busy Week for the Sheriff’s Office!

This week, our deputies have been hard at work keeping Walker County safe. On Phillips Lane in Empire, deputies executed a search warrant, resulting in the arrest of Vincent Wade Yarbrough. He now faces multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of prescription medication, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $100,000 cash and no bond on probation revocation.

In a separate case, following a tip from Crime Stoppers, Sgt. Pugh and Deputy Thacker arrested Daniel Scott Swindle and Kala Michelle Beasley in connection with a burglary at the Highway 78 flea market. Daniel faces nine counts of 3rd-degree burglary and three counts of 1st-degree theft of property, with additional charges pending. Kala faces nine counts of 3rd-degree burglary, three counts of 1st-degree theft of property, and obstructing governmental operations. Property linked to this case was recovered, and both individuals are also suspects in other ongoing investigations.

Deputies have also been successful in recovering stolen property throughout the week. Deputy Richardson recovered three fi****ms reported stolen in 2002 and 2024, including items missing for over 20 years, along with a stolen lawn mower. Sgt. Pugh also successfully recovered a camper.

A huge thank you goes out to all our deputies for their dedication and hard work. Your commitment and vigilance help ensure that Walker County remains a safe place for our families every day.
