🎶 FOOTHILLS FESTIVAL - KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Foothills Festival is almost here, and we’re looking forward to another great Friday and Saturday in Downtown Jasper!

As you head downtown to enjoy the music, food, and festivities, the Jasper Police Department asks everyone to keep a few simple things in mind:

👨‍👩‍👧 Keep an eye on your group. If you’re attending with children, make a plan for where to meet if you become separated.

📱 Keep your phone charged and your personal belongings with you.

🚗 Be patient with traffic and pedestrians. Expect heavier vehicle and foot traffic around downtown, and follow directions from officers working intersections and road closures.

👀 Be aware of your surroundings. If something doesn’t look right or you have a concern, let us know. You’re never bothering us by bringing something to our attention.

👮 Need us while you’re at the festival? Jasper Police officers will be throughout the festival grounds and are happy to help. You can also visit our JPD Command Post on 2nd Avenue near the Walker County Courthouse to report a concern or speak with an officer.

For an emergency, always call 911.

Our officers will be working throughout the weekend to help make Foothills a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.

🚧 Downtown Road Closures for the Foothills Festival

The 2026 Foothills Festival - Jasper, Alabama is this weekend! Approved road closures will begin Friday, September 11, at 6:00 a.m. and remain in place through early Sunday morning, September 13.

Closures include 19th Street from Alabama Avenue to 6th Avenue, along with portions of 1st Avenue, 2nd Avenue, 3rd Avenue, 4th Avenue, and 5th Avenue. Please see the map for additional details and plan accordingly when traveling through downtown. The orange lines on the map indicate street closures.

Safety is our top priority. All decisions regarding street closures, barricades, and access to the festival area are made with the safety of festival attendees and our community at the forefront. We appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the weekend.

🏛️ All City offices will remain open Friday, September 11.

The team behind the Foothills Festival 🎶

At Tuesday’s Jasper City Council meeting, the Jasper Area Entertainment Board was recognized for its year-round work to produce the Foothills Festival.

And “working board” really does describe this group. They are the engine behind Foothills, giving their time throughout the year to plan, coordinate, and prepare for one of Jasper’s biggest weekends. When the festival begins Friday, you’ll find every one of them downtown working to make it happen.

The Jasper Area Entertainment Board includes Pam Callahan, President; Renae Wilson, Treasurer; Emily Riedel, Secretary; Allison Jones; Katelyn Darwin; Jim Smothers; Mike Putman; Paul Tucker; and Billy Wade, along with Tana Collins-Allred, Event Director; Zach Baker, Talent Buyer; and Lisa Myers, Vendor Coordinator.

In 2013, District 4 City Council Member Jennifer Williams Smith brought the idea of reviving the Foothills Festival to the Jasper City Council and championed its return as a FREE music festival. With the support of the City Council, Foothills returned, and more than a decade later, that commitment to keeping the festival free continues.

Foothills would not be possible without the tremendous support of our sponsors, partners, and volunteers, and especially the City employees who work throughout festival weekend. We are grateful to the Jasper Police Department, Street Department, Parks & Recreation, Sanitation, and Cemetery Departments, as well as the Jasper Waterworks & Sewer Board, for the many ways they help make Foothills possible.

The festival brings thousands of people to Jasper, showcases our community to visitors from across the region, supports tourism and our local economy, and provides an incredible quality-of-life experience right here at home.

🩵🎗️ September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month. 🎗️🩵

At today’s Jasper City Council meeting, Mayor Josh Gates and the Jasper City Council recognized September 2026 as Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Jasper.

Each year, more than 125,000 women are diagnosed with gynecologic cancers, making awareness of the symptoms, risk factors, and importance of regular medical examinations especially important.

The City is proud to join the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation and its A State of Teal initiative in helping raise awareness of all gynecologic cancers. 🩵

Throughout September, we remember those we have lost, honor the women currently facing these diagnoses, and encourage greater awareness, screening, and research. 🎗️

Together, we can help spread awareness and encourage the women in our lives to know the signs and prioritize their health. 🩵

Another investment in Jasper’s streets! 🚧

The City of Jasper’s new pothole patcher arrived today and will soon be put to work throughout the city!

This new equipment will allow our Street Department to make more efficient, higher-quality pothole repairs, giving our crews another valuable tool as they continue to maintain Jasper’s streets and serve our community well.

Investing in the right equipment means giving our City employees the tools and resources they need to do their jobs effectively and keep Jasper moving forward.

Grab a cup of coffee, a doughnut, and join the conversation about Jasper’s future!

The City of Jasper and the The Chamber of Commerce of Walker County invite the community to Doughnuts & Discussion: FOCUS 2030, an opportunity to learn more about the City’s new five-year strategic plan and the priorities that will help guide Jasper through 2030.

FOCUS 2030 was developed with extensive community input and provides a roadmap for Jasper’s continued progress, addressing areas such as infrastructure, economic growth and opportunity, quality of life, education and youth development, and strong, effective local government.
