As everybody gears up for the weekend festivities, we would like to remind everyone to stay safe on the waters this Saturday. We look forward to seeing some of our more seasoned lake-families enjoying the day, but we also have newcomers to our waters every day. That said, we just wanted to share a few tips with all of you to ensure a fun time with the little princesses and mighty superheroes.

-Safety Tips for Boaters-

*Wear life jackets: Make sure you take inventory before setting out. Double-check, after the summer fun we've had, that all of your PFD's are on board and in good condition. Also ensure the little ones wear their life jackets at all times while aboard.
*Approach docks at idle speed: Be patient and watch for other boats as you pull up to decorated docks.
*Stay seated in the boat: For safety, avoid standing or leaning too far out to reach candy.
*Keep navigation lights on if skies are overcast or visibility drops.
*Never operate a boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

-Safety Tips for Dock Participants-

*Have handheld nets ready to safely pass candy to boaters.
*Keep docks well-lit and walkways clear of trip hazards.
*Use stable, outdoor-rated decorations and keep cords away from the water.
*Avoid leaning too far over the water when handing out candy.

-General Reminders-

* Always supervise children near the water.
* Check the forecast before heading out.
* In case of emergencies, call **911** immediately.

The Smith Lake Task Force will have members on the waters on Saturday and we look forward to supporting our community by helping everyone have a safe and spooky afternoon on the lake!

It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of our founder, Harold Beasley.

Harold was more than just the founder of the Smith Lake Task Force — he was the heart and vision behind everything we are today. His leadership, dedication, and love for this community built the foundation we continue to stand on.

We are forever grateful for his commitment to service and for the countless lives he touched through his ambition. Our love and deepest prayers are with Harold’s family during this difficult time.

Harold will always be remembered as the driving force that made the Task Force what it is today. His legacy will live on in every mission we carry forward.

Rest easy, Harold. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
