💰HISD students went head-to-head at the G-Unity Business Lab, pitching their ventures directly to 50 Cent and a panel of judges. The top three winners secured a collective pool of $500,000 worth of resources to support their ventures, plus an additional $5,000 cash prize waiting for them at age 18. 🔥📈

River Oaks Elementary student Zachary Teoh is headed back to the Scripps National Spelling Bee! 🐝

This marks Zachary’s second appearance at the national competition after tying for 74th place last year as a second grader. Now he’s getting ready to represent HISD once again on the national stage in Washington, D.C. 🛫🏆

Lamar High School senior Katherine Cherington has been playing classical piano since she was 6 years old, and now her talent is helping open doors for her future. Katherine recently earned the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Scholarship, an opportunity she says she learned about through her piano teacher at Lamar, Mr. Craven.

🥋 More than 300 Frank Black Middle School Kickstart Kids students took the floor at Delmar Stadium for the annual Spring Belt Ceremony! 👊✨

The HISD students demonstrated the dedication, focus, and leadership skills developed throughout the year to earn their new ranks. 📈 Leading the program is Director Sensei Matthew Garza, an alumnus who began his own martial arts journey at Black Middle School back in 2003. 🥋
