There’s no better way to celebrate May 11–15 than by announcing the winners of the 10th Annual Heart and SOL (School Operations Leader) Awards.

This year, the KIPP Foundation focused on a vital mission: Excellence in Reducing Chronic Absenteeism. Out of 16 incredible leaders honored nationwide for keeping students in class and engaged, we are bursting with pride to share that three are KIPP Texas’ very own! 🏆

What a way to close out Teacher Appreciation Week! 🍎✨

Watch as we celebrate Luis Trejo and the incredible heart he pours into the KIPP Connect campus every single day!

We are ending the week with a major celebration as our very own Luis Trejo, a first-grade STEM teacher at KIPP Connect Primary, has been named a recipient of the 2026 Harriett Ball Excellence in Teaching Award! This prestigious national honor recognizes only 10 educators across the entire KIPP network for their transformative impact and unwavering dedication to student success. For Mr. Trejo, this is a powerful full-circle moment; as an educator serving the same Houston neighborhood where he grew up, he is living proof that deep roots combined with high expectations can truly change lives. With this win, KIPP Connect Primary now proudly boasts four Harriett Ball honorees on staff, cementing the campus as a true powerhouse for instructional mastery and joyful learning.

It’s no secret that KIPP Texas is home to the best and brightest educators in the state. Every day, our teachers lead with joy and embrace excellence, providing our Little KIPPsters with the skills and confidence to build a more just world and lead fulfilling lives.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but this video captures the true heart and energy of our 25th Annual KIPP Texas Houston Benefit. We are still reflecting on the incredible night at the Thompson Houston where more than 400 Houstonians came together to celebrate possibility, purpose, and the power of education.

We were guided by our incredible co-chairs, Jason Wells and Jenny Koehler, along with Cynthia Walker and Mac Walker, whose leadership and commitment helped bring this evening to life. From the moving tribute to our Board Member, Allison K. Thacker to the electrifying performance by Ha*Ash, the night was a beautiful reminder of what happens when we lead with purpose.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and more than 60 sponsors, we soared past our goal, raising over $1.4 million to energize young minds! 🚀

Our students from KIPP Journey Collegiate had an incredible opportunity to participate in the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce "Love What You Do" program, hosted by Regions Bank. 🏦📈

It was more than just a visit,t was a deep dive into the industry. Our students gained a front-row seat to the worlds of:
