Folks, I knew when I sat down for the WCSM interview that it would open the floodgates of bigotry once again. To clarify, that is absolutely not the fault of WCSM. They provided a platform for a fair conversation, but the hateful mentality in the comment section is the exact reason why we, our allies, and the LGBTQ+ community must continue speaking up and standing firm for equality.
The goal of these hateful comments is simple: they want to scare people from being visible and active in their own communities. They want us to slip back into the dark, but we refuse to do so.
If you are one of the people leaving those comments, please know this: I can handle it. I’ve read worse, been called worse, and my resolve is unbroken. But you need to understand that trans youth and adults who are struggling to find their place in this world will see what you wrote. Your words cause real, measurable harm to vulnerable people—and you are the one who will have to live with the weight of the harm you cause.
When you go out of your way to spew transphobia, it says absolutely nothing about us, and everything about you. Thank you for exposing exactly who you are. We aren't going anywhere. 🏳️⚧️🇺🇸
