This page will only post COVID-19 and other important information that will be for the betterment of the community. The Twin Valley was a “valley of peace” for the various Indian tribes hunting here. The Shawnees had a settlement nearby as late as 1804. The first pioneers arrived in the area in 1798 and stayed about six years before most moved on. Germantown was settled in August, 1804, by German-

speaking families from Pennsylvania. They were led by Philip Gunckel, the only original settler who spoke English. He selected the Twin Valley as a site for a grist mill. The German language was spoken in Germantown until the early 1900s. The Municipality incorporated in 1833 and the population had grown to 1200 by 1840.

Important Update for 2021 Dog Owners

Ohio House Bill 404 has extended the deadline to purchase 2021 dog licenses to July 1, 2021. Dog owners purchasing a license before that point will not incur any late fees. In-person outposts will stop selling 2021 licenses as of February 1st.

The City of Germantown is an outpost and will sell dog licenses through February 1st through our drive-through window at 1 North Plum Street.

After February 1st, please contact the Montgomery County Auditor’s office at (937) 225-4314 or visit their website at www.mcohio.org to purchase dog licenses online or to print an application for mail. Mail applications along with a check made payable to Montgomery County Dog License and include a SASE to Montgomery County Dog Licenses, P.O. Box 972, Dayton, OH 45422-1031.

City Hall COVID-19 Update
The drive-through window and lobby vestibule will re-open on Monday, January 25th. Due to COVID-19 concerns, staff is available by appointment, email, and phone. Tax forms and permit applications are available in the lobby vestibule. Utility payments may be made by calling our office phone, through the drop-box and drive-through window, or online at www.germantown.oh.us or by phoning (844) 233-6148. City Hall Closure
Effective Tuesday, December 28th, City Hall is closed due to COVID-19 concerns until further notice. Please check our page, City of Germantown, Ohio – Municipal Government, or our website, www.germantown.oh.us, for further updates.
As the building is closed, 2021 Dog Licenses may be purchased at the Montgomery County Auditor’s office at (937) 225-4314, by mail, or via their website at www.mcauditor.org. A list of other outposts is also listed on their website.
Please utilize our blue drop box located behind the building for permits, forms, utility payments, and correspondence.

2020 Christmas in the Park
Hey kids! The City has received a message from the North Pole. Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to Germantown! On December 28th, Santa will be here, in person, collecting your letters, filled with Christmas wishes. Ask your grownups to keep watch on the City's social network sights for more details. Be sure to put your return address on your letters, so Santa's elves in the North Pole post office know where to send Santa's responses to your letter.

CITY HALL CLOSURE
City Hall’s lobby and offices will be closed until further notice to the public beginning Friday, at 4:30 p.m. as a result of the increased number of COVID-19 cases. City staff will continue to assist residents through the drive-through window, the blue drop-box behind the building (for both utility payments and permit applications), via telephone at (937) 855-7255, and by email at [email protected]. Furthermore, water payments may be paid online; please see our website at www.germantown.oh.us and click on the “Online Bill Pay” tab. Permits and other forms are also available on our website under the “Forms” tab. Thank you for your understanding during these trying times. We hope that you and your family stay safe.

Notice of Dayton Pike Road Closure
Construction has begun for the offsite sanitary sewer installation as part of the anticipated Bearcreek Farms development on Dayton Pike. The contractor asked for permission to close Dayton Pike between Weaver Road and Water Street. The Service Department reviewed and granted the request based on vehicular and worker safety, provided that access to the properties within the closure area is to be maintained.
Dayton Pike is to be closed from Weaver Road to Water Street beginning sometime the week of October 19, 2020. The closure is expected to last 2 to 3 weeks, subject to weather conditions.
Traffic will be detoured onto Cherry Street at Center Street utilizing Market Street and Route 4.
