People in Washington are hearing about Galesburg — and not just because of Judy's Cafe. Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development made its second trip to Capitol Hill this month, sat down with senators and a congressman, and came home with news that a key city project has already cleared its first federal funding hurdle. Ken Springer joined us Monday morning with the full story — including a new KCAP series called "Growth is Galesburg's Story" aimed at putting Galesburg on the national map.
From left: C. Andrew McGadney, Knox College president; Aaron Gavin, Galesburg Public Works director; Adam Vitale, G&M Distributors; and Ken Springer, KCAP president.

baked does it again. 🍕 The Galesburg pizzeria on South Seminary Street has been named the best "hole-in-the-wall" pizza spot in Illinois by The Takeout — a national food publication that ranked the top mom-and-pop pizza shops in every state. This comes after Yelp named baked the No. 1 pizza restaurant in Illinois back in 2023.

Thomas goes on to say," My favorite part is when we open the floor for the 7th and 8th graders to ask their own questions. The best one this year was "How do you file your taxes and is it hard"

Our Partnership is excited to embark on our second annual advocacy trip to Washington D.C. During this trip we will have conversations with legislators and federal agency staff about three key infrastructure projects.

A delegation organized by the Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development is heading to Washington, D.C. next week to seek federal funding for three Galesburg infrastructure projects — the South Street underpass, new municipal water wells, and a modernized fleet maintenance facility.
