Because of your incredible generosity, our Galesburg GIVES food drive last week raised $4,205 and filled a truck bed and paratransit bus with over 2,000 pounds of food for FISH of Galesburg! We are so proud of our team and our community for making a real difference together. 🌟

Founded this year, Galesburg GIVES is a City of Galesburg staff committee dedicated to coordinating employee civic engagement and volunteerism.

Here's what you can do RIGHT NOW: ✔️ Grab a few extra cans on your next grocery run ✔️ Share this post — seriously, every share reaches new people

And if a small monetary gift feels easier — pantries can purchase $10 worth of food for every $1 donated.

The City of Galesburg, in partnership with Knox College, is thrilled to announce that the city has been awarded a $2 million state grant to enhance Standish Park!

Founded in 1873, this central park and arboretum sits in the heart of downtown, tying together City Hall, the Knox County Courthouse, and the Knox College campus. Preliminary plans focus on preserving and enhancing the arboretum while introducing new amenities including an outdoor performance stage, recreation areas for bocce ball and co****le, and illuminated walkways designed for safe walking, gathering, and recreation.

This initiative represents a significant step forward for downtown vitality, ensuring Standish Park & Arboretum thrives for years to come. Sincere gratitude is extended to Senator Mike Halpin and our local state lawmakers for securing the vital funding to make this investment in our community possible.

Opportunities for community and stakeholder input will be included during the planning and design phases, and citizens are encouraged to follow the City’s website and social media for project updates.

⚠️ Street Striping Begins June 1st ⚠️
Beginning June 1, Public Works crews will begin repainting roadway markings, parking areas, and municipal lots across the city. Striping operations will last through early September, as weather permits

Drivers are asked to slow down near crews, follow posted signs, and avoid freshly painted surfaces.
