In Fresno County, the most common source of lead is:
• Peeling and chipping paint in homes built before 1978
• Dirt, soil, and dust in and around homes built before 1978

When should children get tested for lead?
Most children exposed to lead do not look or act sick. A blood lead test is the only way to know if a child has been exposed to lead. Children should be tested for lead at 12 and 24 months, or at least once by age 6.
If your child is under 6 years old and has not yet gotten a lead test, it’s time to talk with their doctor about getting one 🩺
