Central California Emergency Medical Services Agency The Central California EMS Agency, a division of the Fresno County Dept of Public Health, is the EMS Agency for Fresno, Kings, Madera, and Tulare Counties.

The Central California EMS Agency (CCEMSA) is a division of the Fresno County Department of Public Health and is responsible for the oversight of emergency medical services throughout Fresno, Kings, Madera, and Tulare Counties. The CCEMSA staff are employees of the Fresno County Department of Public Health. The CCEMSA is a multi-county EMS region and is one of six EMS regions in the State of Calif

ornia. The six EMS regions are responsible for EMS oversight in 31 of the State’s 58 counties. There are 27 counties that operate as single-county EMS agencies. Regional EMS systems provide significant benefit to smaller and rural counties that may not be able to afford to support and maintain administration and oversight of a modern EMS system. The CCEMSA was initially created in 1988 as the Fresno/Kings/Madera EMS Agency when both Kings and Madera Counties contracted with Fresno County to provide EMS administration and oversight for their respective counties. In March 2004, Tulare County signed a contract to join the Fresno/Kings/Madera EMS Region and the name was officially changed to the Central California EMS Agency (CCEMSA). The organizational structure of the CCEMSA is designed to meet the needs of the EMS systems and the requirements of state and local regulations. Congratulations to two ICONS of EMS. We celebrate the retirement of Matt Myers from the EMS agency on June 11, 2026 and the retirement of Brian Hughes, American Ambulance-EMS Communications Center on June 12, 2026.

Matt and Brian each have over 40 years of service to our EMS system and they will be missed. Thank you Matt and Brian for the work you have done. The EMS system is better because of you.
