Ending hunger takes all of us. This September, stop by any Kroger store and support our food bank with a register roundup to the nearest dollar or donation of $1 or $3 at checkout. Every action helps build a bridge toward stability for neighbors in our community.

We are celebrating the promotion of Genny V, our Senior Program Coordinator to Agency Office Manager! We now need to hire someone new to fulfill this role!

Imagine coming to work on Wednesday morning knowing you'd be organizing the effort it takes to fill hundreds of cars with food for seniors. And the other four days? You're ensuring that hundreds more low-income seniors are getting their monthly two bags of groceries.

The SPC manages both of these senior programs, and includes decent & daily physical movement within warehouse environments as well as inventory management & movement. You will have consistent and daily contact with senior citizens, volunteers, and coworkers! This is a physical, social, and highly communicative role, and the ideal candidate will excel at all three.

It's a feel good Friday here at CHFB! We are excited to share we have received $7,000 from The Community Foundation of DeKalb County! These funds will support our DeKalb County Farm Wagons, which are free food giveaways on Mondays, in Garrett and Auburn (alternating weeks).

What: 2026 Indiana Hunger Summit:
When: Date: Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM
Who: Are you part of the food chain? Then you! Participants span all parts of the food chain: National, regional, state, and local thought leaders; food program administrators and government officials; food system growers, producers, buyers, and distributors; and grass roots organizations, Board members, and volunteers.

The one-day statewide event will bring together all parts of the food chain to tackle food insecurity through collaborative and actionable solutions. The program explores how to create pathways out of poverty, ensure every Hoosier has access to nutritious food, and nourish communities across Indiana.

Locations: The 2026 Summit convenes at three locations, incorporating statewide programming and interaction alongside site-specific innovation showcases and discussions on local priorities.

• Northern Regional Hub: Purdue University, Fort Wayne
• Southern Regional Hub: University Of Southern Indiana, Evansville
