Dimmitt Police Department The Dimmitt Police Department will promote effective communication and maintain a respectful dialogue.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Castro County until 10pm.

Large hail, and isolated very large hail to 2 inches and 70mph wind gusts will be possible.

The tornado threat is low.

A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT PARMER AND WESTERN CASTRO
COUNTIES THROUGH 100 PM CDT...

At 1204 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm
capable of producing a landspout 7 miles north of Lazbuddie, or 10
miles southeast of Friona, moving northwest at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Landspouts, wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph, and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Gusty winds
could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured
objects.

Locations impacted include...
Dimmitt, Friona, Bovina, Summerfield, Easter, Lazbuddie, Oklahoma
Lane, Rhea, and Black.

The National Weather Service in Amarillo issued a weather statement for the northern part of the 806. This includes Deaf Smith County and Hereford, which is why I am reposting this for your awareness.

"Showers and storms across the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles will
have the potential to produce brief landspouts through the
afternoon hours. These brief spin ups would be short lived in
nature and unlikely to produce damage"

Good evening Dimmitt, just a reminder that City of Dimmitt, Texas offices, including the Police Department, will be closed tomorrow for Memorial day. The Police Department will still be out and about patrolling.

The splash pad has its opening day at noon, tomorrow. If you aren't aware, the new splash pad is next to the Skate Park on Western Circle Dr. We hope to see everyone there!

The tornado threat is very low.
