Keep it separate, keep it safe!
One important kitchen safety skill for young chefs is preventing cross-contamination. Keep raw meat, poultry, and their juices away from foods that are ready to eat. Use separate cutting boards and utensils when possible, and always wash hands, utensils, and work surfaces after they have touched raw meat.
š„ TRY IT: Microwave Baked Potato Bar
Let each family member create their own!
You need:
⢠Baking potatoes
⢠Shredded cheese
⢠Broccoli
⢠Cooked beans
⢠Plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
⢠Other favorite toppings
Scrub the potatoes well and pierce them with a fork. Microwave according to your microwave's directions until tender. Carefully cut openāthe potato and steam will be HOT! Add your favorite toppings.
Young Chef Challenge: Put your young chef in charge of preparing the SAFE ingredientsāwashing the potatoes, gathering toppings and setting up the potato bar.
