Walker County will hold a Patriot Day service to recognize and remember first responders on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack. The public service, led by Walker County Fire Rescue and the Walker County Sheriff's Office, begins at 8:40 a.m. on Friday, September 11, in front of the Walker County, GA Government Courthouse in LaFayette.

Please join us in congratulating Dushan Kovacevich on his promotion to the rank of Captain with Walker County Fire Rescue.
Captain Kovacevich brings extensive training and experience in emergency response, fire and life safety codes, fire prevention, and fire investigations. He has successfully completed numerous professional training courses and holds the IAAI CFI-FIT (Certified Fire Investigator
- Fire Investigation Technician) certification, demonstrating expertise in determining fire origin and cause.
In his new rank, he will continue serving Walker County in his role as Deputy Fire Marshal, where he will support fire prevention efforts, conduct fire investigations, and provide public safety education throughout the community.
We congratulate him on this achievement and look forward to his continued service, leadership, and dedication to helping protect the citizens of Walker County.

He holds a bachelor’s degree and the Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) designation, demonstrating advanced expertise in fire origin and cause. He has also completed numerous specialized certifications in suppression, code enforcement, and emergency response. Jason is known for his professionalism and leadership, and he looks forward to serving the community of Walker County in his new role as Fire Marshal.
