We have reading challenge for our wonderful Southside readers!

The White House Summer Reading Challenge!
We are kicking things off with a very special nationwide challenge hosted by Second Lady Usha Vance!
The White House is inviting all kids (grades K-8) to join the official Summer Reading Challenge.

The goal is simple: pick any 12 books that inspire your curiosity—fiction, nonfiction, classics, or new favorites—and read them between June 1 and September 4.
Once your child finishes their 12 books, you can submit their reading log online. All participants will receive:
🎓 A personalized certificate & digital letter
🔖 A special commemorative bookmark
🎟️ Entry into a raffle for a chance to win a trip to visit the White House in Washington, D.C.!
👉 Click here to join the fun and download your tracking log: https://www.whitehouse.gov/read/

We can't wait to see those certificates from our amazing readers!

This summer, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s founding, we are excited to invite all children (K-8) to join in the Second Lady’s 2026 Summer Reading Challenge. Participants will read and track 12 books of their choice between June 1 and September 4. Every book counts!

Wishing all of our families a happy, safe, and fun summer!

We had the best time hosting Career Day at Southside on Friday. From EMT's, to K9 trainers, NASA, Sax Player, Dow, BASF and more, our students got a firsthand look at so many awesome career paths.

Thank you to our amazing community volunteers for investing in our students' futures! Check out some highlights from our day below.
