We are excited to share that VTS is now home to the Jerome W. Berryman Special Collection and Archive, a collection of more than 800 volumes from Berryman’s personal library, as well as draft manuscripts, personal and professional correspondence, original poems, sermons, and materials documenting his development of Godly Play. The opening of the collection was marked by the launch of the Center for the Theology of Childhood Scholars Program, a new initiative from the Center for the Theology of Childhood that will support interested individuals in visiting VTS to conduct research using the Special Collection and Archive.

We were honored to confer a Doctor of Divinity, honoris causaon on the Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith, Dean of Washington National Cathedral, in recognition of his selfless, life-giving ministry and radical hospitality.
Dean Hollerith has served as the eleventh Dean of the Washington National Cathedral since 2016. During his time there, he has rapidly expanded the Cathedral’s community and reach. He led an ambitious $185 million capital campaign, spearheaded the full restoration of structures damaged by the 2011 earthquake as well as the Cathedral’s historic organ, oversaw the creation of the Virginia Mae Center for public programming, and established a “digital cathedral” during the COVID-19 pandemic.
