Yesterday Dr. Katie Wilson of the Urban School Food Alliance spoke to a packed room of congressional staffers and made the case for action: Schools want No Antibiotics Ever (NAE) chicken. American farmers can supply it. What’s missing is the federal pathway.

Alongside Dr. Avir Mitra, Chef Jason Tepper, and farmer Bobbi Jo of Webber Family Farm, she urged staffers to ask USDA to add NAE chicken to the USDA Foods list—so more school kitchens can serve better meals and more family farms can benefit.

Boost the Roost already proved it’s possible. Now it’s time to make it permanent and accessible through entitlement dollars.

Our kids and American farmers deserve better. A simple solution is right there.
