Shortly after 5pm this evening, officers were called to a supermarket on Clifton Road following a report that a man had threatened staff with a knife.

Specialist fi****ms officers responded quickly and the male suspect has since been arrested.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, and there is no ongoing threat to the wider community.

We know there were a number of people in the area at the time who may have witnessed this and are understandably concerned, but we would like to reassure residents that the matter was brought under control swiftly by attending officers.

We are now appealing for witnesses. If you were in the area at the time and saw what happened, or if you have CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage, please get in touch.

Information can be reported online via our website https://orlo.uk/VBeJa or by calling 101, quoting incident 290 of today (29 October).

Thank you for your patience and support while our officers responded.

As the nights draw in it’s time for marshmallows, hot chocolate and spooky stories.

We thought we’d share some of our favourite local spooky stories and, while we’re unable to offer advice on ghosts and ghouls, we wanted to take this chance to offer some crime prevention tips!

Thank you to all who shared our appeal to find a 30-year-old man with links to Rugby and Coventry we needed to speak with in connection with a stalking investigation.

He is now assisting us with our enquiries.

The success is in the results. The Rugby Summer Youth Hub was a real hit, with some fantastic feedback gained from attendees.

Did your children attend? Would you like to see the Summer hub back for 2027?

Please be aware that a lorry has shed its load on the A45 roundabout near Ryton-on-Dunsmore.

Leamington Road has been closed and one lane of the roundabout has also been closed.

Officers are on scene. There is heavy traffic in the area, so please find an alternative route, thank you.
