We'd like to give a huge CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who has completed this year's Summer Reading Challenge! 👏

We celebrated in style on Saturday with our special Summer Reading Challenge Medal Celebration event. It was amazing to see so many of you there!

As part of our celebration, we enjoyed an entertaining poetry performance (including some lively beatboxing!) and draw along with author Chris White. This was all around the theme of music to tie in with this year's Read to the Beat reading challenge, which everyone found fun.

It was then time to present those well-earned medals! 🏅 We were delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Rugby and MP John Slinger who presented the children with their medals, and encouraged them to keep on reading!

Thanks to everyone who joined us- we hope you all enjoyed it. 😁

Not yet picked up your certificate and medal? Don't fear! The reading challenge finishes on Saturday 12th September. We have certificates and medals in the library ready for you to collect- simply pop in and let a member of staff know you have completed the challenge! 😊

We are looking forward to hosting a special Chinese Calligraphy workshop next Sunday afternoon, as part of our celebrations for East & South-East Asian Heritage Month.

Come along and join us next Sunday (13th September) from 1-3pm, and learn the art of Chinese Calligraphy!

The workshop is suitable for ages 5+, families and adults.

Eek we're SO excited to be holding our Summer Reading Challenge Medal Celebration this morning! 📚🏅

Did your children complete this year's Summer Reading Challenge? Come and join us at 10.30am, where we will be celebrating their fantastic reading!

We will be joined by children's author Chris White (aka The Doodling Poet), who will be hosting a fun poetry performance and draw-along. And of course, we will also be presenting the children with their well-earned medals and certificates! 🏅

Next Saturday we will be running 🆓 Chinese Fan Dance Workshops- who's planning on joining us?!

To celebrate East & South-East Asian Heritage Month in September, the incredible UK China Performing Arts will be hosting special Chinese Fan Dance Workshops here at Rugby Library.

Come along and join us on Saturday 12th September, when we will be running two sessions:

🪭 11.30am-12.15pm
🪭 1-1.45pm

The workshops are for ages 7+, families and adults. These were lots of fun last year! 💃

Story Stomp returns on Monday! 🎉 Will you be joining us?

Our Story Stomp sessions are energetic, interactive story times designed to get little ones and their grown-ups moving, listening, and having fun with stories, songs, and simple crafts.

Story Stomp runs on Mondays from 11-11.30am (term time only) and are perfect for toddlers and pre-schoolers. At the end of the session, we will put out the Duplo for everyone to enjoy.

Introducing... Ready Steady Dance!🕺

Designed for 2–5-year-olds and their carers, these interactive sessions bring stories from library books to life through movement, play and imagination. It's a fantastic opportunity for little ones to explore stories in a fun, active way while sharing special time together.

Hello September! 👋

September sees the return of our term-time activities, as the summer holidays come to an end.

As well as our usual activities, here's what else we have lined up:

🏅 We will be celebrating a summer of reading, with our Summer Reading Challenge Medal Celebration on Saturday morning, from 10.30am-12pm, for all those children who have completed this year’s challenge! The celebration event includes a fun poetry performance and draw-along from author Chris White, as well as the presentation of certificates and medals.

💃 Back by popular demand, we will be running Chinese Fan Dance Workshops again on Saturday 12th September to celebrate East & South-East Asian Heritage Month. There will be two workshops: 11.30am-12.15pm & 1-1.45pm

🖌️ We will also be running a Chinese Calligraphy Workshop on Sunday 13th September from 1-3pm, where you can learn the art of Chinese Calligraphy! Suitable for ages 5+

📖 We will be celebrating Roald Dahl Day with a Roald Dahl-themed Book Magic session on Sunday 13th September, from 2.30-3.30pm

📜 Come along and meet the Rugby School Archivist on Wednesday 16th September from 10.30-11.30am and discover what is in the Rugby School collections.

Our Silent Book Club returns this Sunday! 🤫

Come along and join us from 2-3.30pm for some peaceful reading time- the perfect way to unwind on a Sunday afternoon!

Here's how it works:
📕 Pop into the Library from 2pm on Sunday with your choice of book (or choose from our vast selection!)

🔵 Collect your Silent Book Club sticker so others know you are participating

📖 Enjoy a blissful hour of dedicated reading in the company of others (without the pressure of having to talk!).

💬 At the end of the hour, if you wish, you can socialise with the other readers

No need to book- simply drop in!"
