Prep is always easier with a view like this… and even easier with the right kit! 😍

Making the most of today’s workspace, with a little help from our new Mirka setup.

Less dust, efficient sanding and more time getting those surfaces ready for a quality finish. 👌

Not a bad office for the day!

🏡 A characterful farmhouse!

This was a big project in a beautiful old farmhouse, with plenty of repairs, preparation and detail throughout.

The brief was to freshen things up while respecting the character of the property. Our customers wanted to retain the charm of an old farmhouse rather than chase a perfectly modern finish, and we worked to suit their vision.

🖤 Black satin woodwork below the dado, providing a practical, wipeable finish.

🤍 Embossed Anaglypta wallpaper below the dado, adding texture and durability.

🪜 Staircase, stringers and handrail all brought together with the black finish.

🛠️ Lots of repair work and preparation along the way, plus some seriously tall ladders!

A satisfying transformation, lovely customers and a project that really suited the character of the house.

Every property deserves an approach that works for the home and the people living in it.

🏡✨ A fresh lick of paint makes all the difference!

A look back at this lovely open-plan kitchen and living space we worked on a while ago. 🤍

With all that natural light, those beautiful beams and the huge run of kitchen units, getting a clean, consistent finish across such a big space really brings everything together.

We love how the lighter walls work alongside the darker woodwork, keeping the room feeling bright while letting those original features do the talking. 🎨

Whether it’s one room or a whole open-plan space, we’re all about the prep, the details and getting the finish right.

🏡 Making a house feel like home. 🤍

This project was about so much more than a fresh coat of paint!

There was plenty of preparation needed before we could get to the exciting part, including damp-affected areas, plaster repairs around electrical work and lots of filling, sanding and making good.

It’s easy to focus on the finished room, but the preparation is what helps create a quality finish. We put the work in behind the scenes so that everything comes together properly.

And just look at the result! 💚 The deep green walls, beautiful animal-print feature wallpaper and warm neutral tones work together to give this room so much character.

Most importantly, we were working for some absolutely amazing people on this one, and we genuinely loved helping them turn their house into a home. Those are the jobs that make what we do so rewarding. 🥰

💙 A bold colour choice that really works!

We love how this blue-green shade transforms this space, pairing beautifully with the warm oak doors, crisp white woodwork and modern finishes.

Choosing the right colour can make such a difference to a room, and you don’t always need a complete renovation to give your home a fresh new feel.

🌿 A statement wallpaper that speaks for itself. 🤍

This beautiful Morris & Co. Marigold wallpaper in Navy is packed with intricate botanical detail and timeless character.

The rich navy tones and flowing floral pattern create a striking feature wall, adding depth and personality to the room without needing to change everything else.

We love the difference that carefully chosen wallpaper can make to a space! ✨

🤍 A kitchen refresh without replacing the cupboards! 🩵

A little throwback to a kitchen I painted back in 2020.

Painting kitchen cabinets is a fantastic way to give a kitchen a fresh, updated look without the expense of ripping everything out and starting again.

From detailed shaker-style doors to drawer fronts and awkward edges, the preparation and finish make all the difference.

Sometimes a fresh coat of paint is all a space needs! ✨

🏡 A little throwback to one of my early solo jobs!

This hallway had plenty of character, from the exposed stone walls to the staircase and all those awkward angles.

I took this one on alone, transforming the space with fresh green walls and crisp white woodwork to complement the natural stone and traditional features.

Looking back at some of my earlier work is a lovely reminder of how far I’ve come as a decorator. Every job teaches you something, and I’m still just as passionate about getting those finishes right. 🤍

✨ A fresh finish for a beautiful living room ✨

We love how this room has come together! 💚

The rich olive-green walls, crisp white woodwork and beautiful bay windows make such a lovely combination, with all those details helping bring the room to life.

At JR Decorating, we believe a great finish starts with proper preparation and attention to detail. From the woodwork to the final coat, we take pride in getting the little things right.
