EPPO is an intergovernmental organization responsible for cooperation in plant health

The main activities of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO) are:
- Setting regional standards and as a Regional PPO, participating in global activities related to standards on phytosanitary measures coordinated by the IPPC Secretariat within FAO.
- Organizing expert Working Party & Panel meetings of the EPPO region.
- Organizing international conferences and workshops for researchers, managers of National PPOs, phytosanitary inspectors...

❗️ EPPO dynamic map of distribution of Agrilus planipennis is now online!

On the map, records can be seen as individual points or clusters. It is possible to add country borders and Köppen-Geiger climate types and download resulting maps. There are options to display the records of particular time periods and to make an animation demonstrating changes of spread over years. In future, it will be possible to add layers for host plants, data on traps, and measure distance and area.

❓️ The EPPO Reporting Service is a free monthly newsletter on events of phytosanitary concern (e.g. new pest outbreaks, new host plants, new diagnostic methods). It focuses mainly on regulated pests (including invasive alien plants), as well as on emerging pests that may present a risk to the EPPO region.

This week, the EPPO (European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization) Panel on Phytosanitary Measures is being hosted by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in Parma, Italy.

The Panel is reviewing a wide range of plant health topics, including:
🔹 Pest risk analyses (PRAs) and PRA reports for Austropuccinia psidii, Phlyctinus callosus, Monema flavescens and Xylotrechus chinensis
🔹 Recent incursions and outbreaks of A1 pests in the EPPO region
🔹 Revision of existing EPPO Standards requiring updates
🔹 The possible development of an EPPO list of Regulated Non-Quarantine Pests (RNQPs)
