Western Counties Regional Library is a regional library system serving Digby, Shelburne and Yarmouth. This page is for all 10 library branches.

To see open hours for each branch, please visit our website. The library has ten (10) branches located in Westport, Digby, Weymouth and Meteghan, Digby County; Yarmouth and Pubnico, Yarmouth County; and Barrington, Clark's Harbour, Shelburne and Lockeport, Shelburne County, Nova Scotia, Canada. As online threats increase, relying solely on a password is no longer safe. This session at the Lockeport library covers the “what, why, and how” of Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). We will explore how single-factor authentication (just a password) to protect yourself online might not be enough.

We will also cover the common methods of 2FA, including:
- Mobile apps
- Phone notifications
- Time-based One-Time Passwords (TOTP)
- Hardware security keys

Stop by the Shelburne library for their monthly science club! School-aged children can design and build a bridge out of paper. Test your project to see how sturdy it is.

This program is on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Children under 9 should be accompanied by an adult.

The Barrington library has their gardening club on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Drop by for a casual discussion on gardening! The club meets on the first Tuesday of each month to chat about any and all things gardening! All ages are welcome.

School-aged children can help build a city at the Yarmouth library! Join us on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 3:15 to 4:15 pm. Civil Engineering can be fun! As a group, we will design and construct a cityscape.

October 30: Plan, draw, and paint a road map of our dream city.
November 13: Build skyscrapers, homes, stadiums, and museums from cardboard, LEGO, blocks, and other found objects.
November 27: Put our city together!

Yesterday morning the Yarmouth library had a visit from MLA Nick Hilton. He presented a certificate of recognition to our volunteer Mark Pitman. Mark has volunteered at the Yarmouth library and library Headquarters for 35 years!

He is a valued presence at the library. Thank you for your years of service, friendship, and contributions to the community!

Visit the Digby library for Sensory Discovery Time on Thursday, October 29, 2026 from 3 to 4:30 pm.

Awaken the senses with different textiles, a clay station, and Braille books and games!

Or discover and try out our accessible reading options at the library. Such as audiobooks, Playaways, VOX books for kids, and eBooks. You can also test out our DAISY readers that can be borrowed by or for patrons with print disabilities.
