For some people, when it comes to their wedding, simple and straight forward are best. For others, a wedding should be carefully planned and say something about who the Bride and Groom are as individuals and as a couple. I'm a strong believer in your wedding your way. There may be a holiday, a season or a theme which are particularly meaningful to you. Your wedding script can also be modified in many ways to say something unique about you. With the exception of three mandatory phrases, the possiblities are almost endless. The music and even the venue are also important choices.

For smaller weddings, I offer my home or back yard as a venue at no extra cost. This has become a popular option for couples as there seems to be a trend towards smaller weddings these days. I have had seven weddings at my home this year and the first outdoor wedding was last week. I also offer an archway and decorations or you can opt to decorate yourself. I can also help by providing a portable PA system and advise on finding musicians or singers, available venues or customizing your wedding script when needed. Big wedding or small, I'd love to talk to you about your special day.

In 2026 I will celebrate my 10 year anniversary as a Justice of the Peace. I received my first appointment on August 30th, 2016 and have officiated hundreds of weddings since then. After nearly a decade, I can honestly say that I still love this job and look forward to each and every wedding.
With experience I have also developed resources and contacts which can help you plan your special day. I have a variety of scripts available as well as many addons so that your ceremony can better reflect who you are as individuals and as a couple. If needed I can offer suggestions for music, photographers and a venue. I also have a portable PA system available at no cost to you to be used during the ceremony.
Whether it's you and two witnesses in my home or back yard or a formal setting with 200 guests I would love to talk to you about what I can bring to your wedding experience.

I'm often asked, what is the minimum we need to do in order to get married?
You'll need a marriage license, available from Access NS or Barrington Jewelers, an officiant and a venue. In addition, the ceremony itself must include three mandatory phrases in order to be legally binding.
There are several reasons couples go this route. Some don't want to spend a lot of money, some couples get the legal part done here and have a bigger destination wedding in another country and sometimes couples who have been together for a long time opt for the simpler wedding.
Whatever the reason, if you'd like to get married without all the fuss and bother, I can help. I'm also available on short notice this time of year and I offer my home as a venue. If you'd like more information or have questions, please contact me.

The vast majority of weddings take place between June and October. Another complicating factor is that almost all weddings take place on a Saturday. If you're planning to get married in one of the busy months this year, it's very important that you reserve two things as soon as possible; your officiant and your venue!

Big weddings are nice but they aren't for everyone.
I'm often asked what is the minimum we need to do to get married? There are just a few things which are necessary. You will need a marriage license, an officiant, two witnesses and a venue to hold the ceremony.
If you're thinking about getting married and just want to keep it simple, I can help. This time of year, I'm available on short notice and I can provide my home or back yard (weather permitting) as a venue.

If you're planning a wedding in 2026 or even 2027 there is one detail you need to place near the top of the list. Booking your Justice of the Peace!
The majority of weddings take place on Saturdays between June and the end of October. You might be surprised to know how quickly these dates are taken. This can potentially leave you without an officiant on your preferred date.
I still have lots of available dates for 2026 and 2027 but that will start to change quickly after the first of the year.
