Have you ever wondered what the role of Chief Accessibility Officer (CAO) entails? Or what a typical day might include? It’s a unique position, created by the Accessible Canada Act (ACA) to provide oversight and guidance in meeting the Act’s goals.

Part of this means working to keep accessibility top of mind and part of the conversation, ensuring it remains a national priority. As CAO, Stephanie Cadieux monitors accessibility across the country, identifies barriers and emerging issues, and reports on her findings. Drawing on these insights, she provides independent advice and recommendations to the minister responsible for the ACA to help advance accessibility and inclusion.

Making connections, convening experts, and listening to and learning from peoples lived experiences is critical to the work. In 2026, the CAO has participated in more than 200 meetings, conferences and other engagements with people with disabilities, advocates, organizations, and communities across Canada. These conversations provide valuable insight into both the challenges and the progress being made toward a barrier-free Canada for everyone.

Because this isn’t just another fundraiser. It’s a national movement.
And for the first time ever, we’re taking it coast to coast.

Four regional broadcasts. One shared vision. A Canada where everyone belongs.

With 400+ participants joining us each year, this is our opportunity to turn stories into action, conversations into change, and generosity into greater opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.
Consider this your formal invitation.

This November, let’s recognize the potential in every person, and build a Canada where everyone belongs.
