📣 Community groups, have something planned for 2027?

Round 2 of Council’s Community Sponsorship Program is now open, offering financial and/or in-kind support for eligible initiatives benefiting the Whitsunday community.

This round is for activities happening between 1 March and 30 June 2027. Applications close 31 January 2027.

📣 Collinsville Show Holiday tomorrow.

A quick reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday 3 November, is the Collinsville Show Holiday for the Collinsville district.

Our Council Customer Service Centre and Library will be closed all day.

If you’re planning a swim, the Collinsville Pool will be open from 12pm to 4pm 🏊

Enjoy the public holiday, Collinsville!

🔥 Planned Burn – Conway and Dryander National Parks

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burns in sections of Conway and Dryander National Parks between Monday 26 October and Monday 30 November 2026, weather permitting.

💨 Smoke may be visible in Airlie Beach, Cannonvale, Conway Beach, Proserpine, Dingo Beach, Hideaway Bay and surrounding areas during this time.

If visiting the national parks:

Follow all signs, barriers and directions from QPWS Rangers
Never enter closed areas
Avoid driving through smoke where possible
Be aware of firefighters working in the area

🌿 Planned burns are an important part of land management. They:

Reduce the risk and intensity of bushfires
Support ecological health and biodiversity
Help protect communities, infrastructure, parks and forests

If smoke affects you:

Stay indoors and close windows and doors
Keep respiratory medication close by

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burn operations within Isolated sections of Conway and Dryander National Park, weather permitting, as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests. 🌴Happy Friday Whitsundays! ☀️

We're wrapping up the week with some exciting news for Bowen, with another step forward in the revitalisation of our beautiful Front Beach waterfront!

From Monday 2 November, Council will begin removing selected older shelters, starting at the Catalina end, to make way for a fresh, modern look.

🤝 We're also working closely with North Queensland Bulk Ports to ensure the new shelters complement the Port of Bowen redevelopment, creating a more attractive and connected waterfront for locals and visitors alike.

🔨 A few things to know:
• Works will take around two weeks, weather permitting.
• Some sections will have temporary access restrictions.
• There will be a period without shelters while the new designs are finalised and replacement structures arranged.

We appreciate everyone's patience while these improvements take shape.

💙 It's another positive step towards a better Bowen waterfront, with Council and our port partners working together to create a precinct our community can enjoy for generations to come.

🐭🌴 Mickey Mouse is coming to Airlie Beach, and our Parks crew are taking no chances! 😂

A six-metre-tall Mickey Mouse is heading to the Whitsundays this weekend, and our Parks & Gardens crew are pulling out all the stops to make sure the Airlie Beach Foreshore is looking its absolute best!

As you'll see in this hilarious video, they might have taken their preparations just a little too seriously! 😂🌱

👏 A huge shout-out to our fantastic outdoor team, who've gone above and beyond to help organise Mickey's visit and delivered some Oscar-worthy acting performances along the way!
