Youth Space will be closed for the foreseeable future.

I know this news may be disappointing, and our team want to acknowledge the dedication of everyone who has been part of Youth Space’s journey.

Thank you to all who have supported the work we’ve done. We hope the future brings new opportunities for the young people we’ve been proud to work alongside.

Second day back at Youth Space and the young people are thriving. Me? I’m just trying to remember my login passwords. 🤸‍♀️

The youth are already in full swing, the snacks are disappearing at record speed, and I’m over here pretending I didn’t forget how to use half our systems over the break.

I must also acknowledge my new bird friend at Whitsunday Gold Coffee , who is supporting my survival with brilliant coffee and good morning vibes.

Honestly, I’m so excited for 2026 - the goals we’re building with our young people, the growth ahead, and all the opportunities we’ll have to serve our community.

I’m actively reaching out and chasing big chances to support, connect, and collaborate, so if you want our vibes in your project, send me an email.

🌉 BRIDGE OVER WATER – Our New Favourite Backyard Challenge! 🌿💦

Looking for a creative way to get the kids outdoors, moving, and using all those sticks left behind after the recent cyclone?

We invented a game called Bridge Over Water, and it was an absolute hit. We wanted to share it with you!!

✨ Step 1: Jump to Set Your River Width

Mark two lines on the ground and take turns jumping from one to the other. Each successful jump means the lines move further apart. The longest jump sets the official width of your river.

🎨 Step 2: Design Your River

Grab some concrete chalk and draw your river and riverbanks. We added a little pond and a flower garden along the edges to make it extra magical.

🪵 Step 3: Build Your Bridge

Time to scavenge! Collect as many sticks as you can from the garden - they’re your main building material.

Add in whatever you can find: zip ties, sticky tape, even pool noodles worked wonders for us.

The only rule: your bridge must stand on its own and it can’t touch the water!

🧸 The Teddy Test

Choose your favourite teddy and send them across. If they make it safely over the river…
congratulations, your bridge is officially a success!

It’s messy, imaginative, and a brilliant way to turn storm debris into play.

Give it a try and let the kids’ engineering minds run wild.

🎄 Youth Space December Wrap-Up! 🎄

What a way to finish the year!

December has been absolutely packed with fun, creativity, chaos (the good kind), and plenty of festive spirit.

We kicked things off by joining the Bunnings Family Christmas, where we brought along our very special guest - the Grinch himself! Luckily, he behaved… mostly.

Between slime‑making, laughs, and Christmas cheer, it was a day to remember.

Back at Youth Space, things took a dramatic turn when we suddenly found ourselves under zombie attack.

With quick thinking and teamwork, everyone built shelters and survived the apocalypse in style.

Once the zombies cleared out, we cooled off with plenty of water fun, soaking up the summer vibes.

To wrap it all up, we finished the year on a sweet note with our Christmas Bake Day, filling the space with delicious smells, festive treats, and lots of smiles.

As we close out 2025, we want to say a huge thank you to every young person, family, volunteer, and supporter who has been part of our year. Your energy, creativity, and enthusiasm are what make Youth Space such an incredible place.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a safe, joyful holiday season. We can’t wait to see you in the new year for even more adventures.

🌟 Kidz Zone: The Great Survival Challenge! 🌟

Our school holiday program turned into a full-on zombie apocalypse survival day - and wow, did the creativity shine! 🧟‍♂️✨

From shelters that stood strong against water guns and resource shortages, to clever designs that amazed us all, every group proved they had what it takes to survive.

📸 In the first photo, The Foodies blew us away with their genius idea of building under a “waterfall” (blue mats) - earning them the Most Creative Award! 💡💦

📸 In the second photo, our sibling team claimed the title of Overall Champions 🏆. Their shelter’s structural integrity (and swinging door made with sticky tape + a chair!) left us speechless.

🪵🔨 The Great Survival Challenge 🌍🔥

Imagine this: you and your crew are suddenly apocalypse survivors. No Wi‑Fi. No Maccas. Just sticks, stones, cardboard, tape, and whatever else you can scavenge.

Your mission?
Build the ultimate Safe Haven shelter before the world throws a curveball at you.

💥 Plot twist: surprise “Apocalypse Challenges” like sandstorms, resource shortages, and brain‑bending riddles will keep you on your toes.

🏆 At the end, teams show off their shelters and battle for glory in categories like:
- Most Creative (aka “Pinterest but make it post‑apocalypse”)
- Most Practical (because duct tape really can fix everything)
- Best Storytelling (bonus points if your shelter has a backstory worthy of Netflix)
