Local Ham Radio operators will be operating Field Day on Saturday June 27th, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM from the Wi******er Center Fire Department. Stop by say hello and operate a ham radio transceiver under the guidance of a licensed operator.

The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) is the national association for amateur radio, connecting hams around the U.S. with news, information and resources.

During activation of the Severe Cold Weather Protocol or Extreme Heat Protocol anyone in need of Immediate Shelter can obtain assistance by calling 211 or by contacting/going to the Wi******er Police Department.

The Governor has activated the extreme heat protocol effective at 10 AM Thursday June 11, until 12 PM Sunday June 14.

The following locations will be open as cooling centers during their normal business hours. Town Hall, Winsted Senior Center, Beardsley and Memorial Library. A list of private businesses volunteering to be cooling centers will be posted tomorrow.

Currently there is a power outage in the Highland Lake area. Eversource is aware of the outage and a Crew has been assigned to it. This is the only information I have at this time.

Final briefing of town status from the storm that affected the town today.

Eversource reports no outages in Wi******er.
The town parking ban remains in effect until 6 AM tomorrow morning. All vehicles parked in the school and municipal parking lots must be removed by that time.
Town Hall will be open for business at 8 AM tomorrow morning.
The schools will make their own determination regarding opening for tomorrow.
The senior center will be open for normal business hours tomorrow.
There are no reports of road closures or detours in town.
Town departments report no issues at this time.
The State EOC will be closing and returning to normal monitoring status at 7 PM.
Wi******er EOC has discontinued remote virtual activation and returned to normal monitoring status at 6 PM.

Power Outages: None at this time
Road Closures/Detours: None at this time
All Town Offices, Schools, and the Senior Center are closed today
All Town Departments reporting no issues at this time.
EOC Status: Virtual/Remote activation

Wi******er Emergency Management Office will continue to monitor the situation and will report any changes that occur.
