To celebrate Banned Books Week, The Novel Hovel is sharing ten books from PEN America's list of the most banned titles in schools over the last five years.

We believe everyone in our community deserves the freedom to read, explore new perspectives, and discover stories that resonate.

Stop by and grab a book this week or leave one that you love. Happy reading!

I have to admit that I've been avoiding refilling The Novel Hovel the last few weeks because of eerie whistling noises, unexplained pinches, and all of the stickers disappearing immediately after restocking them.

Long story short, I hired a team of paranormal investigators who captured this shocking series of images: concrete proof that our little library is haunted. The spirit's sinister plan seems to be recommending books with a slightly spooky vibe. Please be sure to visit before sunset and with a buddy for safety.

Don't be startled if you visit the Novel Hovel this weekend. They are remarkably life-like, but these ghosts are just decorations.

If you are looking for a little fright in your life this spooky season, come check out some of the spine-tingling new books that are available.

It's goblin season at The Novel Hovel. Every autumn, these crusty critters show up and make themselves at home in our little library. Please excuse the muddy footprints and gnawed pages during this time of year.

If anyone is interested in signing up for our Adopt-a-Goblin program, we need good homes now more than ever. Pictured is Blerk, with his favorite stick and a strapping pair of shorts.

This week's reading buddy is the bubbly and charasmatic Henri. Make your next dinner party sparkle with his sharp wit and legendary repertoire of comic songs.

Also, another great big thank you to our wonderful friends and neighbors who continue to keep The Novel Hovel well-stocked with great new books. Stop by this weekend and have a poke around 🙂

Need a wizard? Take a wizard. Have a wizard? Leave a wizard.

Also, if you are feeling too happy this week, I have shared two of the saddest books I've read in years to ruin your day 😎

We don't need television, Squidward! Not while we have our 🌈🌈 IMAGINATION🌈🌈

Panting through the dog days of summer? Paws and treat yourself to a new book and a Snoopy bookmark at the Novel Hovel.

My recommendation this week is the Dogwalkers' Detective Agency by Michael Hogan, a classic cozy mystery where a team of two and four-legged gumshoes work together to sniff out a killer.
