The Mission of the Barrow County Parks and Recreation Department is to enrich individuals, families, and the community through the provision of services, facility and programs that improve the quality of life in Barrow County.

Beginning this Sunday November 1st through January 2027 our Sunday open gym will be Volleyball only. There are two volleyball courts available indoors. Sunday open gym hours are 1-8pm.
Practicing as a whole team is not allowed, as it is open to the community.

Membership is required to use our indoor facilities.
Instructions on how to create an account and register for a membership, as well as the November calendar can be found in the photos.

Dropping off your children is not allowed at any time. No Exceptions. All participants must be on an account with an adult who has a membership. Mode of transportation is required, and the adult must be present for the entirety of their stay during open gym

For Barrow County residents membership is FREE. You must have an account and pre-register for a membership on our website barrowrec.org if you haven't already. You can obtain a scan card from the front desk when you arrive.
***You must have your ID on you to obtain your scan card***

For non-residents membership is $50 for the quarter or $180 for a year. You must have an account and pre-purchase your membership online at barrowga.org.

A howling good time was had at our 4th annual Bark Bash Howl-O-Ween Costume party!
Beautiful weather, amazing vendors, and the best parks and rec dog families who came out in full to have a good time! Lots of wagging tails and big smiles!

We are excited to share that our new outdoor basketball/Futsal courts are now open! They are available on a first come, first served basis and are open from dawn until dusk each day.

🏀 NEW BASKETBALL/FUTSAL COURTS TO OPEN WEDNESDAY 🏀

Work is complete on the newly renovated, combination basketball/futsal courts at Victor Lord Park, and they will officially open for business on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

These courts took the place of the old tennis courts located adjacent to Field 5. They are available on a first come, first served basis from dawn until dusk each day.

The project included repairing and resurfacing the existing surface to accommodate two full-size basketball/futsal courts -- plus new fencing and an overall facelift.

This past Saturday our Barrow County XC athletes finished out the season competing at the GRPA State Championship at Jackson County!
And they finished strong!
Wes Bramlett finished 7th and Wade Blackburn finished 19th in the 8U Boys race — helping the 8U Boys team finish 3rd in the STATE!
Emmalynn Jones finished 12th, placing at state for the third straight year.
Congratulations to all the xc athletes, way to go coaches and families!
The team got faster. They got tougher. And for nine weeks, 15+ families spent Saturday mornings together, made memories, cheered for each other’s kids, and became a little closer along the way.

We can not wait for next years XC season!
