CSM Ring’s courage and selfless actions embody the highest values of our profession and inspire us all to serve with the same dedication. For those that don’t know, CSM Ring was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for his heroic actions on March 20th, 2025. Not to mention, this was the first time the Soldier’s Medal has been awarded to a Georgia Guardsman in over 72 years! Well done, and well deserved!

Please join us in recognizing 1LT Evan Henke and SSG William Smith for their outstanding performance during this month’s drill. Their dedication, professionalism, and initiative stood out as examples of what right looks like in the formation.

Whether it was stepping up to lead, going above and beyond on taskings, or setting the standard for others to follow, these Soldiers demonstrated what it means to be a part of Hawg Company.

Their professionalism, reliability, and can-do attitudes directly contributed to the overall success of the weekend’s training objectives. Leaders take notice, and these two have shown exactly the kind of discipline and initiative we strive for in HHC!

Hawg Company proudly conducted a Change of Responsibility Ceremony, marking a significant milestone in our unit’s leadership.

We said farewell to SFC Christopher Simmons whose dedication, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to the Soldiers of this formation have left a lasting legacy. For the last 6 years, SFC Simmons has served as a Scout Squad Leader, Scout Platoon Sergeant, and Company First Sergeant. SFC Simmons was also awarded the Order of Saint Maurice for his significant contributions to the Infantry community. Your leadership has shaped the culture of this unit, and we thank you for your selfless service. Blacksheep will be in great hands with you as their new leader.

We also welcome 1SG Joshua Braly, who now assumes the position of senior enlisted advisor in HHC. Coming from Dragoon with a proven record of excellence and professionalism, we look forward to your leadership as we continue to train, develop, and stand ready to serve.

This tradition symbolizes more than a change in personnel, it represents the continuity of leadership and responsibility that is the backbone of our success. Congratulations to both leaders on their new positions in Spartan Battalion!

Georgia Guardsman Honored to Represent State at D-Day Anniversary in Normandy

NORMANDY, FRANCE – Specialist Rodriguez, an infantryman assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment (Warrior Battalion), proudly represented Georgia at the 81st anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France. His selection followed a standout performance in the Georgia Army National Guard’s Best Warrior Competition, where he earned top honors and went on to represent the state at the Regional Best Warrior Competition.

His accomplishments reflect the highest standards of the Georgia Army National Guard and continue the proud tradition of the 121st Infantry Regiment — a unit whose legacy stretches back over a century and includes deep ties to the 8th Infantry Division, one of the spearhead units of the Allied invasion of Europe during World War II.

Soldiers of the 121st Infantry Regiment, served under the 8th Infantry Divison. Today it seeves under the storied 29th Infantry Division, who stormed Omaha Beach in Normandy in one of the most pivotal moments of the war. Despite devastating enemy fire, these citizen-soldiers from across the American South pushed forward, breaking through Hitler’s Atlantic Wall and opening the path for the liberation of Europe.

Today, the 121st Infantry Regiment still carries that legacy forward. The men and women of the Warrior Battalion wear the unit’s history not just on their shoulders — but in their actions.

The motto of 2nd Battalion, “It Shall Be Done,” continues to define its character. That same determination, courage, and commitment that carried the 121st through the hedgerows of Normandy still drives its soldiers today. SPC Rodriguez is a shining example of that enduring spirit — leading from the front, honoring the past, and inspiring the future.

As he walks the sacred ground where the 29th Division fought and bled, SPC Rodriguez represents not just his unit and his state, but the legacy of every Warrior who came before him
