There are thousands of these murals scattered across the world that are left in a state of decay to fade away in the harsh climates they are left in. Many are already gone forever and many more are likely only survive in photographs as a quick snapshot of a unit's identity, and a monument to a life changing experience for those that served. Not art, but an iconic photo from the GWOT: a Marine from 3rd Platoon, Charlie 1/8 poses with a MV-22 Osprey from VMM-365 'Blue Knights', Marine Aircraft Group 26 (MAG-26) and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (2nd MAW) that had a hard landing during a foggy nighttime raid in Zamindawar, Northern Helmand Province Afghanistan in March 2012.

For 3 days elements of the platoon fought to secure the site until a large convoy arrived to recover the airframe and relieve the Marines assigned to secure it- many of whom were on the crashed flight.

The Osprey was evaluated and pulled to level ground with the squadron commander flying it out himself.

Photo is by and features Sgt Steven Cheek.

The original narrative to this photo that went viral on Reddit in September 2013 was fabricated by the poster impersonating a Marine and then became further confused by a similar incident in May 2012 involving 2/5 Marines.

Pizza Cat, a female feline who lives at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, is tremendously popular with service members assigned to the base.

Don't have time for it, but a project to archive 'Dear Any Soldier' letters would be interesting.
Anyone have any good stories about?

"P.S. Keep being proud and from that we receive the strength to go on."

Thank you to Ashley H. for sharing this letter with us and allowing us to share it with our followers. Ashley was in the 2nd grade when she wrote to one of our soldiers and he wrote back.

Looks like the mini 8oz cans which have 80mg of caffeine, 38 mg sodium, 50 calories, and 13g sugar... so 10 of the 8 oz cans is 800mg caffeine, 500 calories, and 130g sugar [26 sugar cubes]...?

DO NOT DO THIS- the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends a maximum daily caffeine intake of about 400 milligrams
